Chapter 14: Take Off

----

DEAD. I COULDN'T BELIEVE
it. Both Andrew and Cecil just assumed it. But what really troubled me was how they assumed it was murder. And they didn't know who would want to kill Hayden. I know, I know, it's a stupid thing to get pissed off about, but I couldn't help it. It was like a part of me ached for this dude.

We continued driving, Cecil tapping his knew nervously-- he could obviously feel the tension in the car, Andrew driving at a pace that was incredibly fast. And then there was me. An emotional reck. Why? I wasn't too sure. My heart was pounding in my chest with sadness I could not explain, but all my brain felt was anger. It was a deadly combination. With me, breathing hard and staring out a window, his voice came.

"You alright? I'm getting mixed signals." Thorne asked. If he were here, I would've been able to see the grin plastered on his face.

"Go away."

"Can't do that." I could tell he was smiling just at the sound of his voice in my head.

"Jerk." I muttered.

"Bitch."

"Wow okay. That's a bit hurtful ..."

"It's part of -- Urg never mind."

Silence just fills my head, just like the rest of the car. I don't know where we are going, my captors never told me the final destination. I try to remember the other guy, Leo, wondering if I could mind link with him without being called a bitch.

I don't know how Thorne does it but for me it's taking a lot of huffing and puffing along with some weird looks from Cecil who is probably questioning my sanity. Well I do hear voices in my head...

I try.

Nothing.

I try again.

And again, nothing.

I then tried to set my on Leo, imagining him, but I was cut short when I realized I didn't know what he looked like. I didn't even know what Thorne looked like. This was pointless, but I needed to figure out how to connect with these guys.

"Thorne!" I tried to get his attention. I bit the inside of my cheek as I waited.

"Thorne!" I waited a few seconds, but I got nothing.

"Thorne." Jesus, could this guy answer me? "Thor--"

"What?!" He finally answered. It was by time. "You sound like an annoying alarm that I can't shut off!" He growled at me.

"Not the first time I heard that," i muttered, but then realized he could hear me too. "I need you to tell me how we're able to communicate." I asked, getting straight to the point.

"Why?"

"You--does it matter?" I signed, which drew Cecil's gaze over at me again. I just gave him a look of 'what-cha-looking-at-punk?' But it probably turned out with my face twitching weirdly. He just kept staring at me like I was crazy.

"Yes." Was all Thorne said.

"I want to see if I can communicate with any other people." It wasn't a lie, but I felt if I told him I wanted to talk to Leo, I believe he would say no.

"Like who?"

"I don't know, people!" There was a pause, and for a second I thought he left me once again. But then I felt his presence.
