Chapter 10: Marked

~~~~
Kiara's POV
I FELT MYSELF LEAVING MY BODY, as my eyes entered someone else's. Looking around for clues on where I was. It seemed like I was in a car moving very fast, zooming through lanes of a highway. This driving reminded me of Julie's. Crazy.
I watched cars zoom by, as I kept my gaze out the window. I felt my finger tapping on my knee like I was impatient. Who was this? As I looked down, I realized I was in a tight fitting suit -- and I wasn't a girl anymore.
"Who are you?"
"Are you Leo?"
"What do you want with me?"
All these questions, but no answers. All the sudden, I felt my muscles stiffen -- well this persons muscles stiffen with fear.
"Did you hear something Henry?" The man asked. This wasn't the same "Leo" boy as before, this ones was different, and it intrigued me. His voice was soft, yet still held power behind it. His voice sound beautiful to my -- our -- ears. That's what I thought anyway.
His breath stopped, as he started looking around the leather interior of the vehicle. "Did you say something about my voice being beautiful?" He asked with a laugh and curiosity.
Wait, what?
"Can you hear me?"
Looking around I again, I felt us swallow and then scan the vehicle again, but only the driver was the other in here.
"Your grace, are you alright?" Henry interrupted our thoughts. Well his thoughts. I felt sweat trickle down my forehead, and suddenly I realized how hot it was getting in this vehicle.
"Henry?" We spoke as we gasped for air.
"What is it, my grace?" He answered swiftly. "Is it me, or is it burning up in here?"
With a sudden push on the breaks, the screeching could've been heard from miles away. Henry then turned around swiftly -- speed that I thought a man his age wouldn't be able to posses -- and quickly looked us up and down before his eyes settled on our chest.
"Your grace!" He shouted with shocked written all over his face. "You are glowing!" I never got to hear the rest of what his was saying since we screamed out in pain as a burning sensation rose up and traveled throughout our body.
"This was almost like the same thing that happened to me ... "
"Ahh!" We screamed as fire like heat roared through our body. "Make it stop!"
As we struggled in our seats, he was able to rip off his shirt, and in the corner of my eye I could see what Henry meant about us glowing. There was a golden light coming from our chest, right over his heart. I felt our heart pump so fast and hard, I swear it was going to over work itself. Henry then opened our door, and the we came falling out screaming. More pain shot through us from the fall, but nothing compared to what was happening inside.
I assume more men came to help us since I felt hands trying to pull me up. They felt so cold, freezing compared to my body temperature.
"Who are you?"
I heard the mans voice echo through my head.
"Why are you doing this to me?"
I couldn't think of anything to say. He could talk to me just like the Leo boy, but this one -- he could hear my thoughts as well. Next thing I knew, the pain was over. Gone. I felt our body temperature lower but I heard a sizzling sound on my chest. When I looked at it, a realized my skin was swollen, and what used to be a smooth muscular peck, now had a mark on it. The mark -- in ways -- was beautiful. There was a form of a paw print, with features that appeared to look like smoke around it. Just like mine, right on my chest, right on my heart.
"Your grace, " a couple of men who tried to help us started to walk back and mumble words I couldn't make out, "the mark you bare is cursed!" Henry finished, as he too backed away and mumbled.
"Cursed?" Our curiosity was soon taken over by suspicion. "How?" When no one answered, he let out his most powerful voice with the word. "Speak!"
"It's said that any man who's been marked by a paw surrounded by smoke has been chosen by the God Lōgen!"Henry stepped forward.
"Why would our God Logan want to curse us?" I shot with fire as I stood up.
"Thorn, you don't understand --" Henry started but was cut off.
So the mysterious mans name is Thorn.
"I do, Henry. This is the same curse that the gods had been stowed upon them, isn't it?" Thorn and I pushed.
"Julie never told me about this curse ..."
"Yes, my grace." Henry muttered.
"Then that means the other rightful sons have gotten it as well." We started walking away from the vehicle, which gave us some silence.
"That also means she's real." He whispered merely to himself so no one else could hear him. Then suddenly it dawned on him.
"It means you're her."
Before I had anytime to answer through our mind link, my world once again was surrounded by black dots.
