I don't have another class with Harley. The next time I see him is break. I had Art after Chemistry but I didn't do much, I was too distracted.
I make my way to our table in the cafeteria.
Oliver, Oscar, Lovelle, Tiffany, Chase, Josh and Parker are there. Harley isn't. I almost cry.
Parker waves me over and I wander over, scuffing my feet. I sit down next to her and she wraps an arm around me. "Hey, what's up?"
"I told Harley."
"About what?" Lovelle chimes in, everyone's listening because I'm never upset.
"Parker and I kissed."
Everyone gasps. Oscar and Oliver grin and Josh laughs and Chase smiles and Lovelle and Tiffany beam.
"Good for you guys!" Lovelle exclaimed, leaning over and patting me on the back. Parker still looks concerned.
"What did he say?" She mumbles and everyone grows serious again.
"He... He seemed mad about it. I don't u-understand," I sniff and I feel tears brimming in my eyes. Why am I crying so much lately?
Parker kisses my head and holds me close. "Hey, hey, shhh. It's okay, he'll come around."
And at the moment I notice him enter the cafeteria. Our squad all look to him. He looks glum and serious and his eyes are a little bloodshot. I look away from him and Parker holds me even more.
Lovelle abruptly stands up and storms up to Harley, obviously telling him off as there's a lot of pointing. It's too loud to hear anything but I think she's talking to him quietly anyway. Tiffany rushes after him, making sure her girlfriend doesn't do anything stupid. Josh stays with me and Chase goes up to back up Lovelle.
I manage to look back up. Harley's expression hasn't changed and his gaze hasn't left me. I feel a bit bad. I should probably stop them from telling him off, but honestly it hurt that he wasn't supportive. I think he deserves it a little.
I think he realises I'm not going to help him and he sends a dirty look to Parker who ignores it and keeps tending to me. He bites his lip and finally looks to Lovelle. She stops telling him off when his eyes start watering. Chase puts a hand on his shoulder but Harley brushes it off. I still can't hear anything.
Harley talks to Lovelle and she stays quiet, obviously listening closely to him. He's in full on tears by now. Where did all this drama come from?
He soon storms out of the cafeteria and Lovelle and Tiffany are the first to come back. They sit back down and Lovelle looks a little shaken.
"What happened?" I croak.
She shrugs. "It's a bit of a blur. I was telling him off, saying how he wasn't happy for you and that he should be and that as long as you're happy he should be happy and he started crying. He told me he wasn't happy and he didn't know why but he doesn't trust Parker."
Parker's lips tighten into a straight line. "The feeling is mutual."
"Parker," I mumble.
"It's true. I don't trust him. And it's not because I haven't known him long. I've known Chase just as long and I trust him. There's just something about him."
I shake my head and bury my face in her shoulder. She cups my cheeks and brings my face back to look at her.
"But I suffer through it for you."
I smile a little. She kisses me again and Chase comes and sits back down with a small smile. Everyone else awes.
"Harley is in the library," Chase mumbles. "I wanted to make sure he wasn't going to do anything stupid."
