Part 28: Tears

Yoongi managed to get home pretty quick considering all the people who crowded him when he got to work.

They all wanted to know why he was off, what jobs he was working and if he'd be back again anytime soon.

The only problem was people were constantly coming in and asking him questions meaning the few files Hoseok asked him to sort took a lot longer than they should've.

He finally got out of there five hours later after dinner time but he decided he'd grab some McDonald's on the way back to try and make the undoubtedly lonely Jimin feel better.

Yoongi probably took a bit longer to as his thoughts kept drifting off to the boy whom he had left alone in home.

He wasn't worried for the house but for the boy who was still pretty clueless about the world outside his lab and even then he didn't know what was going on there.

After remembering that knowledge he subconsciously started to drive a little faster.

He went to McDonald's and grabbed bunch of random food since he didn't know what Jimin would life and drove home quickly.

He grabbed his stuff once he parked and basically ran up to his apartment, fumbling with his keys as he tried to unlock the door and froze when he finally made it inside.

Everything was untouched, the exact same as he left it which meant either one of two things; He was asleep or he was hiding.

Upon hearing the sound of a muffled sob behind him Yoongi turned to look to see where it was coming from; seeing one of the blankets across the bed on the floor in a ball with a small figure curled up, crying under it.

Yoongi dropped everything in his hands and pushed the door shut, scooping up the boy and blanket in his arms and placing him in his lap.

Yoongi felt Jimin's small hands grip onto his shirt desperately as he cried more.

Yoongi pulled the blanket down from over Jimin's head and almost started crying himself when he saw Jimin's tear stained face.

Tears were still falling from his eyes and there was snot running from his nose because he was crying so hard.

His face was puffy and swollen and Yoongi just wanted to make him feel better.

He was worse now than when they were in the bath and Yoongi felt helpless because he wasn't sure how to comfort the boy.

He didn't even realise he'd scooped Jimin into his lap properly until Jimin had grabbed onto his shirt so he just carried on following his instinct.

He used the blanket to wipe Jimin's face since it could be washed later and pushed the blanket away from them both.

Yoongi was bout to spak when Jimin's croaky voice cried out "I'm sorry." and that broke his heart.

Jimin's cried somehow intensified and Yoongi panicked not sure what to do.

He picked Jimin up properly and placed him into his lap placing Jimin so he was facing him.

Jimin's head fell in the crook of Yoongi's neck and he just let out all of his tears caused from the fear and loneliness and Yoogni just held him as close as he could, rubbing circles on Jimin's back and running his fingers through his hair.

It took a long time but eventually Jimin calmed down after continuously apologising and Yoongi simply replying "Don't be sorry." and "It's okay."

When Jimin finally seemed to be able to speak coherently Yoongi decided to ask "Do you want to talk about it?"

Yoongi wasn't a shrink but he was human and he could relate to Jimin even if it wasn't completely, but he was willing to listen and try to help.

Jimin was hesitant at first and Yoongi had told him it was okay but Jimin eventually talked himself into opening up a little.

He was with Yoongi.

He wasn't going to leave him permanently.

He was safe.

So he spoke, in his own time and Yoongi just listened.

"I was lonely...

And scared...

I thought that you weren't going to come back...

I knew you would but my friends had said that and they didn't...

T-then I started thinking about e-everything and I got scared...

Scared I wasn't safe and that maybe someone would come...

T-the professor always said he'd come back and find us...

I know you said that everyone rescued are safe but what if there not and what if he'd coming for us!

What if I get taken back to that!

I don't wanna go Yoongi Hyungi I don't-"

Jimin burst into sobs again and Yoongi held him tighter, swaying from side to side.

"Your safe Jimin, I promise your safe. You'll never see him again but you might get to see some of your friends. I promise he'll never hurt you again and that i'll never leave you okay? I promise." Yoongi whispered and so they stayed like that in each others arms until Jimin fell asleep due to the exhaustion of crying.

Jimin deserved a lot more than McDonald's.

Yoongi felt guilty and decided Jimin needed more time and reassurance before he went back to work but at least he didn't have to go back for a while now.

All his focus would be on the broken boy in his arms.
