A word with the king

You had gathered for a meeting on what your next move would be; you knew it wouldn't be long before the telmarines attacked but you also knew that without a plan you didn't stand a chance against them.

"You plan on sending a little girl into the deepest parts of the forest alone." Trumpkin repeated Peter's words with concern for his new friend. Peter had come up with the plan to send Lucy into the forest to find Aslan, realizing now that Aslan was our last hope at fighting this battle and coming out alive.

"It's our only chance" He replied

"And she won't be alone" Susan quickly spoke up

"Haven't enough of us died already" Trumpkin spoke again still concurred for her safety.

"Nikabrik was my friend too, but he lost hope, I can see by the sprit Lucy still has that she hasn't ... and neither have I" Your gaze moved to Edmund as you spoke the last part which he replied with a small nod.

"Then I'm going with you" Trumpkin spoke only this time was directed towards Lucy.

"No we need you here" Lucy spoke the words you were thinking. Although Lucy and Susan where going to find Aslan there could still be the chance that he might not come and that meant that you would need as many warriors as possible.

"We have to hold them off, until Lucy and Susan get back" Peter added

"If I may..." Caspian now spoke for the first time since the meeting had begun. "Miraz may be a murder but as king, he is subject to the traditions and expectations of his people. There is one in particle that may buy so some time."

"A duel" You spoke up looking between Caspian and Peter; Caspian replied with a slight nod. "Only thing is someone needs to go speak with Miraz and see if he agrees to it first."

"I'll go" Peter spoke once again confidence in his voice.

"No" You replied "You're the High King you'll be the one that's expected to duel, you should stay and get ready to fight ... I'll go"

"What ... no, you can't go over there by yourself." Edmund had no spoke up for the first time, obvious worry for your safety showed in his sudden outburst.

"I won't be alone, I'll make sure to take Glenstorm with me and one of the giant's" You replied back trying to reassure Edmund.

"No, the only way you're going is if I come with you."

"Maybe, it's for the best if Edmund goes with you Y/N" Susan spoke towards you in a soft tone a slight smile placed on her lips at the way her brother was behaving, a way he had never behaved towards anyone. "Plus it would be better for you the more in numbers there are." You couldn't argue with Susan's reasoning and nodding agreeing to take Edmund with you.

After dressing yourself in your armor (picture shown above) and placing Edmund's sword in your belt; you had made your way across the field with Edmund and Glenstorm on either of your sides and the giant following close behind.

"Stay by my side" Edmund comment as you walked towards the telamarines camp.

"Of course" You replied

When entering the telmarines camp harsh words had been directed to you and your fellow narnian's causing anger to boil up inside you. The giant and Glenstorm had placed themselves just outside the entrance of Miraz's tent in case anything was to happen during your talk with the king.

"I Peter, by gift of Aslan, by lecturer and conquest, High King of Narnia, Lord of Cair Paravel and Empire of the lonely islands; in order to prevent the spill of blood do here by challenge the king Miraz to single combat on the field of battle." You began reading from the scroll that Peter had handed shortly before you had left Alsans How."The fight shall be to the death and the reward shall be total surrender." You finished rolling the scroll back up waiting for Miraz's answer.

"Tell me prince Edmund" Miraz started, as he turned to Edmund who stood by your side.

"King" You bluntly corrected him

Miraz sat stunned for a moment before replying with a "Pardon me"

"Its king Edmund ... Edmunds king too it's just that Peters High King" You explained to the now confused Miraz.

"I know it's confusing" Edmund added clearly seeing the confusion in Miraz's face.

"Why would you risk such a proposal when our army will wipe you out by night?" Miraz questioned only moments later.

"Haven't you already underestimated our numbers? I mean only week ago narnian's were extinct" Edmund answered back

"And so you will be again" Miraz commented with a look of disgust on his face.

"Well then you should have little to fear" Edmund added

Miraz let out a chuckle at Edmunds comment, only causing you to tighten your fists in anger, at the man who had ordered you and your parents to be killed. "This is not a question of bravery" He continued as he turned his attention back to Edmund.

"So your bravery, refusing to fight a swordsmen half your age" You spat, disgust could clearly be seen on your face as you spoke to the man in front of you.

"I didn't say I refused" Miraz spoke leaning forward towards you.

"You shall have our support your majesty, with whatever you decision" one of the advisors spoke.

"Sir, our military advantage allow us to provide the perfect excuse to avoid ..." Another spoke only to be cut short be Miraz as he stood up from his chair grabbing his sword.

"I'm not avoiding anything" He spat at his advisor.

" I was merely pointing out that my lord is well in his rights to refuse" The advisor spoke back clearly trying to calm the temper of his king.

"His majesty will never refuse, he relishes at the chance to show the people that he won't regard any king" His guard spoke. Miraz stood in silence for a short while, thoughts could be seen racing through his head at which decision would be best before point his sword towards you and Edmund.

"You, you should hope your brother's sword is sharper then his pen" You and Edmund glanced at each other with a smirk as Miraz agreed to the duel between him and Peter.
