After Caspian's close encounter with high king Peter, everyone had quickly introduced themselves to the true kings and queens of Narnia. Quite chatter now filled the air as everyone made their way back to Aslan's How, talking among them self's. You could no longer see Peter or Caspian as they lead the group back, you were sure however that they were most likely discussing battle plans. A short distance away soft giggles of laughter could be heard as Reep and the queens shared stories of their time in Narnia.
However the youngest of the kings ... King Edmund the Just seemed to caught your attention the most. There was something about him that seemed to draw you closer to him and you wasn't sure what. Of all the creatures in the group, it shocked you to find Edmund walking alongside a minatour; you knew of the history, the two shared with the white witch however they had both seemed to put their pasts behind them and were now walking alongside each other as if they had been friends for many years.
"What are they like?" you asked, Trumpkin who had been walking beside you, your gaze still watching Edmund.
"All they do is argue and complain." Trumpkin replied, huffing towards the kings and queens. "Stubborn as mules in the morning"
A soft laugh left your lips at the thought of Edmund sleeping soundly, his perfectly toned body spread out on the grass, his dark messed up hair stuck out in all directions and Trumpkin trying to get him up. The image that played out in your head, seemed to leave a smile on your face.
"So you like them then?" Nikabrik asked, pulling you from your daydream.
"well enough."
As your eyes shift back to Edmund, it soon hit you that he was no longer there, instead a faun had seemed to take his place. Your feet immediately stopped, moving your eyes scanning the forest for any sign of the dark haired boy.
"What are you looking for?" A voice spoke from behind you, turning on your heel and unsheathing your sword, you turn to see who dare, try and sneak up on you. Only to come face to face with Edmund.
"Is that my sword?" Edmund asked nodding towards the sword in your hands.
"Yeah ... I found it last summer, when I was exploring Cair Paravel with Reep. Trufflehunter had explained to me that night who the sword had belonged to and since then it hasn't left my side. It always gave me a sense of hope that you would return to help fight for Narnia again. " Your fingers gently tracing the metal as you spoke." I'm sure you'll be wanting it back though, if your going to be fighting alongside us that is."
Edmund's hand seemed to linger over yours as he took the sword. " I'll always fight for Narnia, I am there king after all." Edmund spoke this a smirk, pride radiating of his body. "You seem pretty close with the Narnian's, I thought that they didn't get along with any telmarines ..."
"I'M NOT A TELMARINE ... I'm a narnian." You shouted quickly cutting Edmund off.
"I'm sorry ... Its just that I've never known any narnian's that are human ... Apart from me and by siblings."
"Maybe I should explain." Edmund nodded for you to continue as you began to walk. "I was born a telmarine; I lived just outside the castle walls with my mother and father. My father worked for the king at the time... Caspian's father. He was working late one night, when he saw Miraz, killing the king. Miraz saw him fleeing the castle; that night, the knights came for us. I watched as they killed my mother and father. I managed to run away, deep into the forest. That's were Trufflehunter found me, he took me in and ever since then I've lived with the Narnian's; waiting for the chance to help them take there home back."
"Well, I can promise one thing, were not going any where until Caspian is rightful on the throne" You could hear the determination in Edmund's voice and it made, it clear the Narnian's would win this battle no matter what. Silence only filled the air for a short while before your voice seem to break it again.
"Hey Edmund ... What was Narnia, like when you first came here?" You could see the slight hint of sadness on his face, as his smile seemed to fade.
"When I first came here, I thought it was extraordinary; who ever thought there would be a winter world in a wardrobe. Ar first I thought it was all fun and games ... until I meet the white witch. After seeing the way she tortured those creatures I wished, I never came here. I thought I'd never make it back home, that I would never see my family... But Aslan saved me." It was now that his smile began to appear again. "Narnia never would have been the place it was if it wasn't for Aslan. I think sometimes Peter forgets that it was Aslan that defeated the witch not him."
"Narnia would have never been the way it was, if it wasn't for you either. If you and your siblings never came along who knows what Narnia would be like now, it may still be an eternal winter ... I might not of even been here. "
"Well, I'm glad that you are here ... fighting for Narnia." Edmund smiled before shifting his eyes away from you. A small laugh escaping your mouth. "Who taught you how to fight anyway?" Edmund questioned.
"Trumpkin taught me most of what, I know and I've been training with Caspian in my spare time." A laugh left Edmund's mouth ... his laugh seemed ti make your heart beat jump as you locked eyes.
"What's so funny?" You asked
"I duelled Trumpkin, when we first met him."
"And he kicked your butt... right?"
"Actually I kicked his." You could clearly see the pride and happiness on Edmund's face.
"Maybe I should train with you instead."
"I'll turn you into the best sword women this army's ever seen."
