Austin's P.O.V
"Austin." Jane says.
How is she standing there right now? Somebody please tell me that I'm imagining things. They don't, and I'm thank full. She's back, she really is back after so long.
"It's so great to see you again," I say as I hug her tightly. She's hugging me just as hard.
"How have you been?" She asks me, she looks up at me and I see her dark blue eye color. She's so beautiful.
Then tell her that you idiot! I say to myself. I can't though she made that clear long ago.
"I'm fine," I answer. "How are you here? I mean you died," I say.
She shakes her head, "It doesn't matter. I'm home that's all that matters."
I nod, "Okay."
"Hey man come on," Will says to me heading for the stairs.
"Yeah coming. See you later Jane."
"See you," she tells me.
I walk upstairs and enter Will's room, he's already on his bed and I sit down in his desk chair. I up at him and see him staring at me. After a moment I get annoyed.
"What?" I ask him.
He leans over and says, "You have that look again."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I ask him smiling.
"What? You don't think I see the way your face lit up when you saw her? Why don't you just ask her out again?" Will says.
"Yeah I don't think so. The last time we went out we broke up and then the next day I get a call that she jumped to her death." I answer my smile disappears.
"That won't happen again Austin." Will says.
I shake my head and look out the window. "You don't know that."
That day from a year ago replays in my head, like always.
~Flashback~
I wait in the parking lot of the school for Jane, she is never late. Just as I'm about to leave I see Jane walking towards me, she looks different, she looks off.
"Hey are you alright?" I ask her as she stops in front of me.
"Yes," she answers and then looks up at me. "Actually no, I'm not."
I step towards her but she backs away, "Jane what's wrong?"
"I need to tell you something," she says.
"Okay." I tell her.
"I want to tell you that we need to-" she stops, I can see tears forming in her eyes. I don't need her to finish.
"Jane stop talking," I say taking another step to her. She steps back shaking her head.
"No." She says, tears falling down her cheeks. "No, Austin we need to break up."
"Jane stop it, this isn't funny." I say.
"I'm not joking. Austin I came here to say goodbye. I can't do it anymore I can't deal with this damn curse anymore."
"Jane you don't have to I'm here with you. You don't have to go through it alone." I say and I grab her hand.
She looks at both of our hands for a moment then she tilts her head up and kisses me. After a moment she pulls away and gives me a hug. I hug her back and I begin to cry too, because I know Jane and I know that when she makes up her mind there is no way she'll change it.
She pulls away and says, "Goodbye Austin. I love you, I'm so so sorry." Then she's gone.
The next morning Will calls me crying his eyes out. "Jane jumped off a cliff. She's gone!"
At that moment I drop the phone and fall to my hands and knees. Images of Jane flash through my head and I lose it I start to throw things around the room, the window breaks when I throw a book at the window. I grab a photo frame and it's a picture of me and Jane on our year anniversary.
"I love you too."
