After several hours past Steve's usual return time, Amelie was extremely worried. On a normal lead, he was home by midnight.

The clock had just struck three in the morning. Amie was pacing the floor, her hazel eyes furrowed and brimmed with tears she was trying to suppress.

"He's fine." Amie told herself, allowing her hands to relax by her side, shaking them out to try and shake out her nerves, "He is always fine."

However, something felt completely wrong. Extremely wrong. Amelie had a feeling of dread in the pit of her stomach, weighing her down with doubt, fear, and worry.

Steve is usually home by now... he calls if he's going to be a bit late. Three hours without a call? Amie knew something was off.

Eyeing the door, Amie thought if she should go out after him. She had a general idea where he was- or at least where he was going. She could go there, track him and make sure he was safe.

No. A part of her was saying, You'll go there and Steve will be fine. You'll mess everything up.

But what if Steve was in trouble? And if she just stood here doing nothing he could get hurt... or even worse.

Despite having leaked all Hydra information onto the internet, Amie still feared they were out there. As much as she hated it, Hydra was capable of surviving that.

They could be out there- trying to find Bucky as well. What if Steve ran into them? What if they got him?

Amelie huffed a frustrated sigh, running a hand through her hair. She didn't want to chance it... if something happened and she neglected to go and help... it would be her fault. She had the ability to track down where Steve was- and if she tried hard enough she could see what he was doing.

However... that required lots of brainpower that Amie was afraid she no longer had. After last year's scepter fiasco with Hydra... her powers haven't been the same. It was like something was locked in the back of her mind- a secret that she couldn't get to no matter how hard she tried.

"Scheisse." Amelie ran to the counter, grabbing her burner cell and dialed a number feverishly. Immediately she pressed the phone to her ear, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

"...Hello?"

"Sam! It's Amie."

"It's three in the-"

"I know I'm sorry. Come quick. I think Steve's in trouble. He found him- and I need your help."

Standing outside bundled in her jacket and knit beanie, Amie anxiously watched Sam pull up in his car. He looked groggy, as if he had been sleeping when she called. As horrible as she felt for waking him... she didn't know what else to do.

"Amie, what's wrong?"

"Steve is in trouble." Amelie repeated, "We have to go."

"Where is he?"

"Alexandria, come on." She grabbed his sleeve and started tugging him in the general direction of the next town over.

"Woah woah woah, you're not going anywhere. Steve will literally have my head if anything were to happen to you. You can't come along, it's too dangerous."

The teen stopped, rolling her eyes.

"It's always dangerous... I have heard that word too much. I am coming with you. Steve is family." Amie insisted, giving Sam a look that suggested she was not going to take no for an answer.
