Amelie was falling.

The ground was getting closer and closer- and her screams and pleas grew louder and louder. She didn't want to die- not yet anyway. She was terrified!

Trying to gain control, she tried everything. Amelie tried to use her powers, she tried to move something in her way to slow her fall, or move herself so she wouldn't crash on the hard concrete.

Then, she was roughly caught by a large green man. Her injured arm screamed in protest, but she was grateful that she wasn't going to die by becoming one with the concrete.

One giant hand was wrapped around her waist, holding her to a very green and muscular chest. Amelie looked up, seeing a familiar face staring back at her... at least a version of that face.

"Dr. Banner?" She whispered, wiping the tears from her eyes as she was put down on the top of a taxi cab.

"No Banner- Hulk here right now." Hulk said, "Banner inside Hulk."

"Thank you." Amelie said to the Hulk, "You saved my life."

The Hulk shrugged, running off deeper into the fight to go smash some more stuff. Amelie slid off the taxi cab, wincing from the extreme soreness in her arm.

Amelie rubbed her aching arm, taking off half of her jacket to see how the injury looked. It had bled through the bandage, and the wound itself was dark and bruised. The young girl bit her lip to hold back a cry, slowly putting her jacket back on.

Letting out a sigh, the young girl assessed the situation. She needed to get back up to the Tesseract. She understood that she was the only person who could do what the Avengers were trying to do.

Lasers from the Chitauri rained down on her, a thin shield of purple energy the only thing keeping them from hitting their target. Amelie ran, keeping a shield around herself as she entered Stark Tower once more.

Amelie was face to face with Loki's brainwashed servants. They were blocking her path to the elevator and stairwell, giving her no option but to do the one thing she was hoping she didn't have to do.

Closing her purple glowing eyes, Amelie reached deep within herself. She found the fear that's been eating away at her since she left Hydra, she found what Hydra had been teaching her to do- because there was no other way she could get past this without getting seriously hurt.

Before anyone could shoot a gun or throw a knife, they all clutched their heads, screaming out in pain as Amelie turned their brains to mush. Blood exited black eyes, and hands covered either bleeding ears or noses. The energy burned Amelie's body, weakening it as she fought for control.

Slowly, one by one, they all fell, gone.

Gone.

Amelie fell to her knees, her breathing heavy and labored as she finished taking out the bad guys. Her whole body shook, lacking in electrolytes and hemoglobin. Blood trickled from both her nostrils, her skin pale and covered in veins that showed through her transparent skin.

As fast as she could move her body, Amelie dragged herself towards the elevator. Nausea was building its way up into her throat again, but the child was able to keep it down.

Slowly she crawled into the elevator, using her powers to shut the doors and start it up as fast as she could. Her purple gaze darkened, her bloodshot eyes now shaded by her powers.

The elevator doors busted open, and Amelie, now on shaky knees, stumbled in. Natasha, scepter in hand, turned in shock to see the girl.

"Amelie?"

The young girl walked shakily towards the redhead, a hand tightly gripping her injured arm. She coughed, breathing heavy and labored as she approached the Tesseract.

"You need to close it." She whispered, "I can."

"No, Amelie, you're just a kid-"

"You cannot get in- the energy field is too strong." Amelie used her powers to bring the scepter to her, "I can shut it."

Amelie felt the forcefield around the Tesseract, it's strong energy repelling her like how the same sides of magnets cannot connect.

"Are you sure?" Nat asked, "Because-"

"I am sure." Amelie interjected, wiping her nose free of blood once more. She took a deep breath, preparing herself.

Slowly, Amelie pierced the forcefield with the tip of the scepter. With immense effort, she used her powers to take down the Tesseract's defenses. She stopped Chitauri from coming in, broke the forcefield completely, and sent out a huge wave of purple energy. Natasha and Dr. Selvig were knocked harshly back, sent tumbling deep into Stark's penthouse.

"You have to want it, Sieben." Amelie could hear Strucker's voice in her mind, "We cannot have you not at one hundred percent."

Amelie yelled, shoving the spear deep into the heart of the Tesseract. The pain in her head was almost unbearable as she fought for control.

"Control is everything, Sieben. Control and punishment."

Looking up at the sky, she saw Tony Stark fly into the closing portal, carrying something on his back. Amelie fell to her knees, struggling to keep the portal open long enough for him to make it out.

"Amelie, we need you to close it." Nat called, "You're going to kill yourself by doing this."

"I-I can do it." Amelie yelled, tears streaming from her eyes, "I can hold on-"

"Close the portal, Amelie, it's time." Natasha said. Amelie shook her head, her purple gaze searching for Tony Stark. Her vision was slowly fading in and out, dotted with black swirls and twisted with clouds of purple. Her hearing felt like it was underwater- Natasha's orders turning into incoherent blobs of sound.

Amelie's control was slowly slipping, but she couldn't let Tony be stranded in space to die. As much as he was a part of doing some of those tests at SHIELD on her, he wanted to do the right thing as much as any of the Avengers.

Then, she saw it. A tiny red dot come crashing through the opening of the portal. Amelie pushed herself, screaming as her mind was at its wits end to close this portal. Her whole body shook with effort, and as she did so, her body lifted off the ground, hovering a few inches off the ground.

With a final wave of purple energy, the portal was shut and the Tesseract's machine was totally fried. Amelie was sent flying outwards, landing at the entrance to Tony's penthouse. She lay there, still as can be, her eyes now hazel as they gazed up at the sky. Exhaustion took over her body quickly, where even lifting her arm took too much out of her.

So, Amelie stayed on the floor, slipping into a well needed state of rest.
