"So when can we organize a meeting with your social worker?" Chris asked over the phone.

Eva nibbled at her lip. "He's, uh, I don't know."

"What's his name? I can look him up."

Eva panicked a little. They'd agreed that Chiron's alter ego, Mr. Brunner, would act as her social worker until she revealed her godly side to her brother, but Chiron- er, Mr. Brunner wasn't online. "Oh, um... hey, I gotta go. I'll call you tomorrow. Bye!" She hung up and pressed a hand to her speeding heart, sighing.

"Smooth," Mr. D drawled from the doorway. She glared at the wine god.

"Yeah, yeah." She sighed. "Ugh, now what?"

"Dunno, Emma-"

"Eva."

"Whatever!"

She slammed the phone down and stalked out of the office, shoving past Mr. D pointedly.

"Leo, I have dug myself into a deep hole," she announced as she walked into Bunker 9.

He didn't look up. "Kinda busy at the moment. Hey, can you plug in the soldering iron?"

She grabbed the cord and stuck it in the socket. "Chris wants to look up Mr. Brunner, my 'social worker' who is actually the activities director at my summer camp, oh, and by the way, he's a centaur and I live at a camp for demigods."

"You're screwed," Leo commented. "Now I'm sorry, but I gotta get this done before Harley kicks me out again."

"You've been kicked to the curb a lot lately," Eva said, leaning against the wall and watching him work on some laptop (probably Kayla's from the Apollo cabin, she broke it a lot). "Do you have any idea why?"

He grabbed some wire. "Nah. Weird thing is, he's not kicking anyone else out. Nyssa, Ellie... they get to stay. I don't."

"That's a pretty good indicator he's making you some sort of gift."

He twisted his lips to the side in concentration, and she resisted the urge to kiss him. He opened his mouth to answer, but they were interrupted.

"Leo!" Harley shouted from the door. "You're not supposed to come in Bunker 9!"

"Sorry, buddy," Leo said, looking up. "But I needed to use the soldering iron for Kayla's laptop."

Harley started picking up Leo's supplies and shoving them toward the scrawny Latino. "Get out! Ellie can fix it, she's good at that!"

Leo laughed, shoving everything in his magic toolbelt. "Okay, I'm going!"

Harley humphed. "And stay out!"

Once they were out of earshot from the workshop, Eva started giggling. "How is such a burly nine-year-old so cute?" she asked.

Leo shrugged, slipping his hand into hers. "He's annoying sometimes."

"But he's adorable."

"Okay, yeah, he is."

"Oh, by the way, Mr. D is probably going to kill me at dinner."

"Wait, what?"
