So let the sun come streaming in, cuz you'll reach up and you'll rise again...

"Come on, come on," Eva muttered, redialing the number she'd found on White Pages for her brother. "Pick up!"

Leo stuck his head into the camp office. "Any luck?"

She sighed as the phone went to voicemail. "Nothing. I've left seventeen voicemails, and still nothing."

He tossed her a Hershey's Kiss. "He'll pick up eventually."

She unwrapped it. "Don't sound so sure."

"Gotta go," he said.

She nodded, already dialing again. But this time, someone picked up.

"Chris Johnson," said the voice. "Who are you and why are you bombarding my phone with calls and messages?"

Her heart sped up. "Leo was right," she blurted accidentally.

"What?"

"Oh, um, nothing. Hey, Chris, so this is going to sound really weird, but, um, well, this is Evanna. Your sister."

He was quiet for a long moment. "You can't be. Eva died nine years ago. Hit by a car."

"That's what they told you?"

"Yeah."

"No body, was there?"

"Well, no."

"Chris, I swear it's me. Eva."

More silence, then "oh my God! Eva! It's really you! Where are you? What happened?"

She thought fast. She hadn't had a plan for her background, because she hadn't really thought she'd get that far. "I'm in the foster program. I was thinking about you the other day, and decided to track you down."

"So you could live with me."

"That's the general idea, yes."

"Okay. Who's Leo?"

"What?"

"You said 'Leo was right.' Who's Leo?"

"Oh, um, someone. Look, I'd better go."

"I'll call you later?"

"No, don't." She could not risk Mr. D talking to her brother and revealing all her secrets like, oh, her mom, for instance. "I'll call you. By the way, I use the last name Castman now."

"Oh, okay! Bye!"

"Bye." She put the phone down, took a breath, then bolted out the door. "Leo! Leo!"

He turned back. "Did he pick up?"

She beamed. "Yes!"
