Eva threw open the door and bolted down the hall, unsheathing her Celestial bronze dagger and silently cursing herself for not grabbing more to show to the two. In the living room, she saw two Gorgons who, if she remembered correctly from what Percy had said, were named Stheno and Euryale.
Stheno turned towards her with a smile, snake hair writhing. "Care for a sample?" she chirped, offering a plate of little chicken wings. Chris and Clara seemed in a trance, and each reached for one.
"No!" Eva cried. "Don't! They're poisoned with her blood!"
Stheno clucked. "Oh, it'll be quick and painless, darling! Don't worry!"
Euryale spit on the carpet. "Stheno! What did I say about not revealing the poison?"
Stheno looked confused. "But I said it would be quick and painless."
Euryale rolled her eyes. "Let's just kill the half-blood and get it over with."
Eva had taken off the hoodie and her scars were all on full view. "Come on. You two losers really think you can beat me?"
Euryale snarled. "That's sort of the point, isn't it?"
As an answer, Eva lunged with her dagger and managed to stick it into Stheno's gut before either Gorgon could react. The Gorgon dissolved into yellow dust.
Euryale shrieked. "Stheno! We only just got out of Tartarus! Oh, you'll pay for that, half-blood."
Eva grinned, holding out her arms. "Come at me, lady."
Euryale did, which was her fatal mistake. Eva simply held her dagger out, and Euryale ran right into it, her eyes widening a little in shock before dissolving into monster dust.
Eva coughed, holding her shirt over her nose and mouth. "Uh, sorry about the mess. It's be useful if I had some Stygian iron, but..."
Clara and Chris gaped at her. "What are you?" Clara gasped.
"They called you a half-blood," Chris added.
Eva sighed. "You two better sit down for this."
