Chapter 26: See You Again

Mark and Jackson decided to spend their off day this week with each other on a date, hoping that going out would help distract them from the sadness, fear, and despair that was filling their lives. Jackson told Mark that they would grab a bite to eat and then go karaoke. He had hoped that food, fun and just being together would be the best distractors.

Jackson and Mark barely spoke as they ate lunch. Both of them using one hand to eat and then holding the other's hand. They hoped it would be a sign of comfort and that everything was going to be fine, but clearly, their thoughts didn't agree. The silence was a clear marker that they were thinking about the situation at hand. Jackson broke the silence. "You know I'm so glad we get to spend time with each other like this." Mark nodded in agreement. "I love you...to the moon and back Markiepooh." 

"I love you too." 

"Our time together is something I would never give up. Even if someone offered me like all the money in the world." 

"What if you could debut right now and become the most famous person in the world, but only if you broke up with me?" Mark probed. 

"I wouldn't debut then," Jackson firmly answered without hesitation.

"Wow, you must really love me. Good thing we spend so much time together," Mark chuckled. Jackson smiled affectionately. Mark couldn't tell but something was weighing on Jackson's mind.

After arriving at karaoke, Jackson and Mark sang some fun, upbeat songs. Jackson danced on the table like an idiot, even if it was against the rules. Mark was living for it and Jackson would do anything to entertain and put a smile on the face of his beloved. After a few fun songs and party anthems, Mark decided to slow things down a bit and sing some more heartfelt songs.

"I'm holding the precious you in my arms~~

I want to fill the pages of this story that isn't over yet~~

Until the very end~~

Whoa whoa~~

You did well~~

Whoa whoa Whoa whoa~~"

"That was for you Jacks," Mark fondly smiled. Jackson stood up clapping. 

"You know...my boy is so talented," he said, pulling Mark into a tight hug. Mark laughed. 

"It's true though our story isn't over and we have so many more memories to make together." Jackson smiled affectionately at his boyfriend before taking the mic from him. 

"My turn now...I have a song for you too." Jackson selected a song titled "See You Again", took a deep breath and began to sing wholeheartedly for Mark.

"There are so many things I have to tell you~~

Oh baby I'm singing this song to tell you how I feel~~

Let's see eachother again when the sky allows us~~

When we see each other~~

I'll have so much to say~~

Can you wait for me?~~

Can you promise me?~~

I'll come back to you~~

See you again~~

We'll see each other again~~"

Mark was encapsulated by his boyfriend's sweet performance. His eyes were glued to Jackson the entire time. After the song finished Jackson walked up to Mark to hand him the microphone. Instead, Mark hugged Jackson softly. "You're so talented too..." Jackson quietly giggled. "But why'd you sing that song? You're making it seem like we aren't going to see each other anymore. It's not like you're leaving me or anything. We're going to be together forever." 

Jackson smiled somewhat bittersweetly, but Mark didn't seem to catch it, thinking Jackson was just giving him a normal puppy-dog smile like always. "Besides like I said to you Gaga, I'll always come back to you," Mark affirmed as he tightly embraced Jackson again, digging the side of his face into the Chinese male's shoulder. 

Jackson hugged his boyfriend back before loudly sighing, wishing that the evaluation wasn't coming in two days and that he could stay in this moment with his Markiepooh forever.

I wrote this chapter right before Cherry Bullet debuted (STAN THEM), and remembered Haeyoon-sus DID THAT in Produce 48's "See You Again" and realized...IT WAS THE PERFECT SONG TO USE THIS CHAPTER!
