Chapter Twenty Three: A Blast from the Past

Narration~
The next day, the ninja and their children cashed out the check and bought back Mia's house, also leaving $600.00 left for her and her family. The Hurst family was extremely grateful for the ninja's solemnly act of kindness and swore to help them when any danger would come near. Over the next couple of days, school's been canceled due to the weather conditions. During those couple of days, the kids have been getting more curious about their parents' past, especially facing off powerful enemies. 

Sker's Point of View~
Mia and her family were so happy that they got their house back and they swore to help us when there was danger in Ninjago anywhere, and that got me thinking about possible threats in the future. If we were going to fight against evil in the future, what kind of enemies would we fight? Would they be like the ones that dad, mom, Lloyd, and our uncles and aunts fought in the past? Maybe we should ask them and we can get an understanding of what they fought and what we might have to battle later in time. I thought. I was thinking about this deeply and I guess it was noticeable because May asked me what I was thinking about and why I looked so stern. "I'm just thinking about something. Don't worry about it." I told her. "You mind if I ask what you were thinking about?" May asked. "No, I don't mind. I was just thinking about our parents' past and the enemies they fought." I said. "Why would you be thinking about that? Not that it's bad to think about." She asked. "Because, if we're Ninjago's next line of defense, shouldn't we have an idea of possible threats? Y'know, ask mom, dad, and Lloyd about the enemies they fought before we were born." I said. "I guess that makes sense, but do you really think they'll tell us?" May asked. "Maybe, I mean, four out of the five of us are already teens and we did stop a witch and vampire from trying to kill a theater full of innocent people. If it were up to me, I'd think we were ready to be told." I replied. "Now that you say it, it does sound kinda interesting to know." May said. Then, Lari walked in and asked, "Know about what?" May and I didn't say anything until I spoke, "Our parents' past." Lari had a confused look on his face. "Y'know, like the bad guys they fought before we were born. We wanna know what happened." May clarified. "Oh! That's what you meant. Yeah, I've been kinda wondering about that too." Then, Kabaz and Akidah walked in and questioned what we were discussing. We told them what we wanted to know about our parents and they agreed that they wanted to know as well. Man, it's like we can see into each other's heads and know what we're thinking. I know I can already do that, but it feels like we all can do it. "So, do you guys think we should ask them?" Kabaz asked. Everyone nodded. "Let's go ask." Akidah said. We all got up from the floor and went into the living where dad and Lloyd were. "Hey, um, dad? Lloyd? Can we ask you guys something?" I asked. Lloyd turned his head around and smiled. "Sure kids. What is it?" He asked us. "Well, we were wondering what happened...in the past...the bad guys you fought before some of us were even born." May said. They were silent and looked at each other before looking back at us. "Why do you kids wanna know about our past? Especially the bad guys were faced?" Dad asked. "Because, if we're gonna be like you one day, Ninjago's protectors, shouldn't we know at least what some threats might be like?" I responded. Dad sighed. "We knew this day would come, you five wanting to know about the many encounters we had many years ago, wanting answers. We're just not sure if you all are ready to hear it yet." Dad said. "But dad, we stopped two monsters at the theater!" Kabaz argued. "We know you did, and we're extremely proud of you all. But the enemies we faced were far more dangerous." Lloyd said. "Please dad, we really wanna know what happened! I mean, we all know some stuff about Chen and Garmadon, but that, to us, doesn't feel like it's enough. We all feel there's more to you than just that. There's gotta be more. Please tell us, please?" Lari whined. Lloyd sighed and slumped a bit. Oh man, are we in trouble now? I thought as the two whispered to each other before looking in our direction. "Okay, fine, we've decided that since you all are older and you did save everyone from the vampire and witch, you can learn what happened. But, we want you all to be serious about this and not take this as a joke. Understand?" Dad said. "Understood." We all said. We went over to the couch and sat down and waited for them to tell us. "Well, I guess we'll start to when none of you were born, and during that time period, we were fighting snakes, skeletons, and stone warriors." Lloyd began. "Wait, we've heard about snakes and skeletons from Great-uncle Wu, but he, or any of the other ninja told us anything about any 'stone warriors'. What are those dad?" Kabaz said. "Stone warriors are extremely dangerous and durable to any kind of damage. No matter how hard you punch or use your powers on them, they're unstoppable." Dad said. "Woah." I said under my breath. "The Stone Army was created by an ancient source of pure evil and darkness, known as, 'The Overlord'. The Overlord was defeated by the First Spinjitzu Master thousands of years ago and was banished and trapped on the Dark Island. And when my father still had evil in his blood, he sought out to find the island. When he found it, the Overlord trick him into helping him get off the island and take over Ninjago. When the time came where I had to fight my father, the Overlord possossed him and transformed into a huge dragon." Lloyd explained. "Possessed? Was it like when you were possessed by Morro?" Akidah asked. "No, it was far worse. Morro was a ghost that could easily take possession of anyone and anything, but the Overlord needed to be allowed in by the victim." Lloyd said. "Oh." Akidah said. "How did you stop the Stone Army and the Overlord?" May asked. "Well, I had an injured leg and the other ninja had to help me out. But, along the way, they were corrupted by the ultimate weapon which can turn anyone evil whenever it touches someone. Kai had to fight your aunt Nya as well. When I made it to the top, I unlocked the Golden Power and became the 'Ultimate Spinjitzu Master' and used the light to defeat the darkness. My father was also released and was back to normal." Lloyd said. "Wow! You were a golden ninja?!" I exclaimed. Lloyd smiled and nodded his head. "Then, the Overlord returned in digital form and was defeated by Zane, freezing him. And that's how the Overlord and Stone army were defeated." Dad said. "Wow! That's insane, but awesome at the same time! I can't believe you guys did all that!" Lari exclaimed. "I don't think it was that "awesome" as you say, it was really scary and stressful. There were many emotions and thoughts running through our heads." Lloyd said.

{Time Skip~}

After the discussion about the past, it felt like I learned more about myself that I didn't know before, like, that all happened when I was a baby and mom told me that I was also born with the mark and when she and the others turned into snakes, I did as well. I was harmless because I couldn't stand up with a tail, but I scared the heck out of Misako when she was taking care of us at the academy. But, I still kinda wondered, Whatever did happen to the Overlord after Zane defeated him? Was he gone forever? Or, was he still out there? I kept these thoughts to myself, knowing that there was no one would even know the answers to my questions. Later that night, mom came home from work and we told her everything that we talked about with dad and Lloyd. She said she still remembers when she helped Chen and still regrets it, even though she turned over a new leaf when she helped fight the Anacondri warriors and stopped Wu and Garmadon from fighting each other. There was so much information to process, that my head began to hurt a bit. I decided to think about all this tomorrow when I would be able to think straight, instead, of trying to multi-think.
