I wasn't like everyone else. I was human but struck with this mutation in my genetic coding. It started when wings grew from my back. They were extremely larger than my body and a lot heavier. A long tail behind me.

They called me Gryffin at HYDRA, never liked that name. I like Y/N better as it is my birth name. Unfortunately, that part is the only thing that stuck with me.

I walked in circles, my tail dragging against the cold floor. My wings drooped as the chains clung them together. My chamber didn't contain much, a metal slab where I slept. The wet stones covering the walls and floors. The guards always tossed everything I needed into my chamber carelessly. The rounds would be everyday;

8 AM - Begin Training
12 PM - Medical Exam
1 PM - Mind Training
5 PM - Meal Time
6 PM - Return to Cell

Without fail, it is always a timely manner, but somehow they were late today. I stood quietly staring at the door, finally hearing someone panting. The door unlocked to reveal the Master. Blood dripping down his forehead down to his nose. He quickly unlocked the chains around my wings, he pulled me into going to the main area. Several guards fighting off people in flashing colors.

The only one I could recognize was the Winter Soldier but he was fighting the guards.  I heard about his disappearance but

"Furnace," The master whispered in my ear. Everything burned with anger as I began flying and attacking the first figure I did not know. His metal armor protecting him was a struggle, flying with speed I clung around him and took him to the ground. My tail wrapping around his hand to stop him from using his weapons. The gold and red reflecting the sun light onto my own skin.

His knee jerked up and pushed me aside. Wincing I steady myself on my hands and feet, my wings spreading to their full glory. I could feel the burn of his stare at me. I quickly lunged and pulled him before flying towards the North wall. Pinning him against the wall I grabbed his blasters and discarded them.

I hold my hand above the blue triangle on the suit and dug my hand further into his chest. My strength puncturing the metal with ease. His breathing was quick as he groaned in pain. My fingers digging into his skin, until a sticky substance wrapped around my wings bringing me down. I clawed at the strings but to no avail it was useless. A blue man with a shield faced me as I stood. Winter Soldier beside him trying to calm me down. Others moved around me entrapping me. I moved my tail closer around my feet, getting ready to whip it at several people.

"Griffin." I turned to face the metal armed man once again. A grunt left my throat and I saw the metal man stand up with a boy in red.

"Kill her already," the man ordered but no one moved. A hand laid on my shoulder I twitched and faced Winter once again. My tail wrapping around his arm.

"You betrayed us." I glared at him.

"I was saved, now I can save you."

"I cannot be saved when I am already safe." I growled and watched around as each member stepped closer. Winter moved his hand up causing the rest to stop. I jerk my head around watching everyone tense and ready to lunge.

"Benign." He stated, my muscles instantly relaxing. My wings dropping once again and tail moving and unraveling itself.

Everyone watched in amazement as  I looked around curiously. The blue man setting his shield down and slowly coming closer taking cautious steps.

"Everyone this is Griffin, one of the strongest people I remember from this place." Winter introduced and I turned to look at him. He whispered faintly. "Y/n, come with us." Instincts kicked in and I kept my eyes on him ready to follow.

"What is she doing?" A voice behind me asked, but I stayed focused on the one and only I trusted. As ruthless as this place is, I remember having a cell next to him. He never spoke but I could hear him struggle. The single vent connecting allowed for communication. He usually wasn't the one to speak.

"I will explain later." He countered and lead me to a car. I wanted to hide from the outside world, my wings and tail tucking into one another. He had me sit in a large truck. He shut the doors leaving me alone in another box.

The bed was now white and plush, the room giving warmth as I watched men in white move across the way. One wall being only glass allowed me to watch others. Barnes visited everyday, teaching me new things and bringing gifts. My favorite was the colorful cube which moved to mix up, but move them around enough, each color has a side.

I watched as Bucky opened the door. I looked up and the corner of my lip turns up.

"Ready for another day, Y/n?" He seemed to be hiding something. That much I could tell. I nodded and he stepped away from the doorway and held the door open. I moved out and stepped aside as he went in front of me to lead me to a room I haven't seen yet. People were standing around very tense, staring as I walked in. The hushed whispers  turned to silence.

"Just like we promised, okay? Can you do that for me?" Bucky leaned in front of me and lightly grabbed my hand reassuring me. I looked at all the others remembering what Bucky taught me about them.

"Yes." My voice showing fear and anxiety. squinted eyes giving mistrust. I stood in front of them all and fumbled around with my hands.

"Hi everyone, my name is Y/n. I will no longer be called Griffin. I know you all don't trust me quite yet but I am always willing to learn a new way. As you know I was a pawn for HYDRA, but with Bucky's help I feel like I can re-enter a new community." I tried to keep my voice from cracking and didn't make eye contact with anyone knowing that they all distrusted me.

"First of all, this isn't a community. Second, you are going to have to show us that we can trust you. I don't care what Barnes says about your progress, you nearly killed me." Tony slowly stepped foward before towering over me. I shrunk and stared at the ground feeling smaller than ever.

"Tony, she understands what she has done and is no longer going to be triggered by words. With the right training, she can help save innocent lives." Steve tried pulling him aside. He visited every once in a while with Bucky to learn more about me and to see my progress.

"I'm sorry Tony. I know I can't change the past otherwise I would have. From what I have been told you are a very intellectual man, that remembers small details and pays close attention. I hope you will soon understand that I will not harm any of you again." I stared at Tony, hoping to see him at least falter. Finally making eye contact allowed me to see everyone for who they are. Noticing every single detail presented before me.

"Look, Tony we have all made mistakes before. Never forget what downfall gave us an upbringing." Natasha, also known as Nat spoke helping Steve.

Steve put a hand on my shoulder and I turned to him. "We have a room for you where you are free to roam around on the 6th floor only. you are next to the kitchen and living room, you won't have clearance to the other floors quite yet but this will be a start. Bucky is roomed right next to you in case you need anything."

"Thank you Steve." I smile and look at Bucky. Now I can move forward and begin a new life in a safe home.
