Symbiosis

I remember when I first came into contact with it. It was in my fiance before it moved onto me leaving him dead in our apartment. Little did I know he has been cheating on me for years. Thats what it told me, and I have reason to believe it. At first I was freaked out by the voice but slowly it became almost soothing to know I wasn't alone.

Thats what a loser would say.

If I remember correctly Vex, you did mention you were a loser back on your home planet.

To feed, Vex loves tortilla chips and caramel. Every once in a while I will have to find fresh meat but that also means finding someone bad enough to go along with our deal. Since I began working for Chen at the market downtown. A place where people could easily become thieves and easier to catch when we are hungry.

I heard the bell ring and I looked up to see a man in a grey sweater. "You must be Eddie, Mrs. Chen has told me a lot about you." He seemed shocked but smiled softly looking away.

He smells familiar.

See you might be going crazy now. you might just be hungry.

"Uh- yeah, Mrs. Chen didn't mention hiring a new employee. Nice to meet you...." He nodded slightly and went down the aisle.

"The names Y/n. She believed she was finally ready for employee after you saved her life." I looked back down at my journal and stashed it away. I watched him tense before turning to make eye contact.

"What exactly did she say?" He grabbed a few bags of tater tots and chocolate bars.

"Something about a thug running off after you confronted him about robbing her everyday. She didn't really go much in detail, but you are a hero to her and she values you highly for what you did for her." I smiled and gave him his change and bagged up his food. "So tater tots and chocolate, a weird food combination I am missing out on?"

"Heh, yeah its only a snack in between meals though." His accent was slight but I could recognize a New Yorker when I heard one.

"Well have a nice night Eddie, hopefully I will see you soon." I waved as he left. Soon after a masked man came in demanding for money. With an easy switch and a large swallow, he was gone.

I walked down the street drinking a caramel milkshake. When I picked on footsteps behind me. Angry whispers also picked up by Vex.

Whoever it is, I will rip their head off.

I turned and saw Eddie walking up to me. "Oh, Jesus you scared the hell out of me Eddie. I thought you were a mugger."

Calm down, its only Ed.

Why do you care so much about this man?

Because Mrs. Chen values him.

"Sorry, I just had to say hello?" It came off more of a question than a statement.

"Its alright, I'm just relieved." I watched him and he seemed to be in the middle of a conversation, only not with me. "Are you okay Eddie?"

"Yeah I just been having a rough day." He rubbed the back of his neck I smiled softly.

"Well I am going to park, if you would like to join me?" I offered. I could hear Vex scoff.

I thought we were going to eat predators and now you are making me wait!?
