Third Person Point of View

It had been almost a week since Alex and Jack had performed at Summerfest and Alex had done everything she could to avoid Jack. She knew it was wrong to cut him off without any explanation but she couldn't let herself get hurt; she was already vulnerable enough.

After a couple of days of rejected calls and unread messages, Jack was beginning to give up. He would call every so often but he knew that there was no point since he wouldn't get an answer.

Alex had speant her time since she got home in her bed, only leaving to eat or use the bathroom. She hated the idea of losing Jack as a friend but she had to put herself first for once.

"That's it. You're leaving this apartment whether you like it or not" London said, dragging Alex out by the arm as Jackson chuckled in the corner.

Alex groaned as she felt the cool air prick at her arms. To put it bluntly, she looked like a mess; her hair hadn't been brushed, she had been wearing the same pyjamas for days and her eyes had bags under them.

"We're going to fix all of this" London said, gesturing to the girl in front of her. "And then we're going to go out and walk around the Grove for some fresh air" she finished.

Alex looked to Jackson for help but he just shrugged and turned to look at his phone. She knew there was no way she could convince London to let her stay at home alone once again, so she went along with it.

Within half an hour, London had fixed Alex's hair, put concealer on the bags under her eyes and given her jeans, fishnet tights and a tied up t-shirt to put on. Alex looked brand new once again.

The fresh air restored Alex with the energy she had been missing for nearly a week now and she had almost completly forgotten about Jack. Almost.

It helped that she was with London and Jackson. It was like old times with the three of them messing around.

"Jackson, put me down right now!" London squealed. She had taken the last doughnut from the box so Jackson had picked her up and thrown her over his shoulder. Now, he was running around as Alex followed, recording the whole thing while crying with laughter.

Just as Jackson was about to throw Lodnon into the fountain, a group of girls walked up to them. "Oh my God, hi!" one of them exclaimed. The three band mates turned to look at them slowly.

London stopped screaming, Jackson instantly had a guilty look on his face and Alex burst out laughing as he slowly lowered her to the ground.

"Hey guys" Alex eventually breathed out after she had recovered from her laughter. "Hi, we're huge fans. We saw you guys open for 5 Seconds of Summer at their Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour in 2015 and we've loved you guys ever since" another girl said.

Alex could tell she was more shy than the others by the way she looked at the ground. It reminded her a lot of herself and she smiled warmly at her.

"That's so cool! What are your names?" London asked, walking up beside Alex and resting her arm on her shoulder. Alex playfully glared at the girl for taking advantage of her height - or rather lack of it.

"I'm Jade and this is Isabelle, Kate, Hayley and Kayla" the girl who seemed to be the most confident said. The three friends stayed and talked with the girls and took pictures for a while. It felt good for Alex to talk with fans again instead of staying in bed all day.

However, that's when it dramatically went down hill. One of the girls turned to Alex and began talking to her. "Are you and Jack a couple?" she asked bluntly.

Alex was slightly taken aback by the sudden question but she understood why she wanted to know. Nonetheless, it made her suddenly very awkward. "No. We're just friends" Alex said, plastering a smile on her face.

"Do you like him though? You guys would make a really cute couple" the girl continued. Alex began to zone out as the girl continued to rhyme off different reason as to why Alex and Jack would make a cute couple.

"I'm sorry, I really have to go. It was great meeting you" Alex rushed out as she put on a fake smile for the girl. She couldn't take it anymore; if she didn't leave soon then she would have an anxiety attack.

Before anyone could say anything else, she rushed off in the opposite direction, leaving London and Jackson alone with the group of girls.

After about five minutes of walking, Alex finally sat down on a bench. No one had chased after her but she knew that as soon as the group of girls left, London and Jackson would be looking for her.

She began to loose herself in thought, remembering all of the good times she had had with Jack here. She hadn't even noticed as the tears began to flow down her cheeks.

"He's just as miserable you know" a voice came from behind her, causing her to jump slightly. Alex turned to see Jackson leaning on the back of the bench. She shot him a confused look and wiped the tears from her cheeks.

"Jack. He's just as torn apart as you are" Jackson stated matter-of-factly. Alex hadn't even thought about how Jack would be feeling. She had just assumed that he wouldn't have cared too much. He would eventually get over it and move on.

"Look, I don't know why you're cutting him off but I do know that he needs you just as much as you need him. Think about it" Jackson said as he walked away from her, knowing she needed her space.

Despite being told otherwise, Alex still believed that Jack didn't miss her at all. She hadn't made a big impact on his life at all, so it wouldn't effect him if she simply left.

However much she hated it, Alex knew that it was better for both of them if she kept her distance, so that is what she was determined to do.
