Third Person Point of View, Six months later
It had been five months since Alex, London and Jackson had started touring and a lot had changed. Alex had become more distant with the others; not just London and Jackson, but with everyone. She hadn't even called Jack once in the last month and a half.
It was partially to do with the fact that she thought they were all better off without her, but that wasn't the main reason. Lately she had no energy to do anything; she would sleep in between shows and she would barely eat - when she did she would almost always get sick.
London and Jackson were getting more and more worried but they rarely said anything about it, they were too afraid that she might snap.
If Alex was being honest, she wasn't even sure what was wrong. She didn't know what was causing all of this but she assumed it was the stress of the tour.
Now, she was sitting backstage staring blankly into space before they were supposed to go on. "Hey Alex, are you feeling okay?" London asked cautiously, snapping the girl out of her daze.
She blinked a couple of times before glancing up at her best friend. "Uh, yeah. I'm fine" she said distractedly. Alex couldn't seem to focus on anything at the moment; her thoughts kept racing back and forth.
"Are you sure? You look really pale" Jackson said as he walked in. Alex shook her head in an attempt to clear it before walking over to the fridge to get a bottle of water, ignoring what Jackson had said.
Jackson and London exchanged worried glances, not knowing how to help their friend. They knew there was something wrong but they had no idea what.
"Alex, you haven't eaten properly in weeks. Even the fans have noticed that you aren't at your best" London remarked, slowly approaching the blue-haired girl.
"They've seen how tired you look on stage and they notice when you forget chords or words" Jackson continued, explaining what London meant. Alex looked between the two but still remained silent. She knew they were right but she didn't want to admit it.
"When was the last time you talked to Jack? Maybe he can help" London suggested. However, at the mention of Jack, Alex's head snapped in London's direction.
"I'm fine, okay! I don't need help!" she exclaimed, throwing her now empty bottle of water onto the ground next to her. London flinched at her sudden action and didn't say anything else. J stead, she nodded and walked away, Jackson following closely behind her.
Alex sighed in annoyance, not fully sure why she had snapped like that. However, she shook it off and followed her bandmates on stage, not saying anything about the previous encounter.
As she picked up her guitar, Alex plastered a smile on her face. She greeted the crowd like every other night although each time it was with less and less enthusiasm; her smile didn't even reach her eyes anymore.
Usually, performing on stage was Alex's one true happy place and she would never have to pretend but lately that was all she seemed to be doing.
The crowd didn't seem to notice or care, though, and they cheered just as loudly ad every other night when Alex began to sing the opening of Voices.
This was the one song Alex hadn't messed up on in the last few weeks purely because she knew it so well. However, this time something went horribly wrong.
She didn't forget the words and she didn't forget the chords - she didn't even fall on stage. Alex suddenly stopped everything as she let out and ear-piercing shriek.
A sharp pain stabbed at her lower abdomen, worse than any sort of pain she had ever felt before. She instantly took the guitar from around her and placed it on the floor, almost breaking the neck from how quickly she did it.
London and Jackson stopped playing aswell and looked at their friend, unsure of what to do. When another sharp pain stabbed at Alex, she screamed again only this time she doubled over in pain, still managing to remain on her feet.
The crowd had stopped cheering now and everyone was murmuring about what was happening; no one knew if shebwas okay or not.
Before anyone had the chance to do anything, Alex collapsed onto the floor and was no longer moving. London screamed and ran to her best friend instantly, Jackson not far behind her.
They crouched down next to her, not knowing what to do. Jackson began to shake her shoulders as he called her name while London began to cry while gripping her hand. They called for someone to help but no one seemed to hear them over the noise of the crowd.
Eventually, Jackson scooped the girls body into his arms and ran off stage as London followed behind, taking her phone out of her pocket and calling an ambulance and she went.
They sat back stage waiting for the ambulance to come, not knowing what else to do. Alex still lay unconscious but at least she was breathing.
"This is all my fault. I should've seen this coming" London mumbled as she bounced her knee up and down. She blamed herself for not doing more. She should have recognised the signs that something was wrong instead of leaving her be.
"You couldn't have known" Jackson said, his voice low and hoarse. Before anything else could be done or said, sirens could be heard getting closer and closer.
London and Jackson stood up instantly when the two paramedics rushed into the room, placing Alex carefully onto the gurney.
"We need one of you to come with us in the ambulance to tell us exactly what happened" one of them said, looking between London and Jackson.
The two looked at each other before Jackson spoke up. "You go. I'll follow behind" he said, knowing how much Alex meant to London.
She smiled gratefully at him before following the paramedics out the door, praying for the safety of her best friend.
