Ik these chapters have been stressful so before we start have a pretty color palate generated from a place my boyfriend took me over last summer.

You arrived at the Cafe late, you and Shayne had sat and he eased your nerves before you had checked your texts and Damien had agreed to meet you at a Cafe that he was already at. He asked you to meet him in ten minutes since he knew it was fairly close to your house, you took about fifteen more than that.
You saw his foot bouncing anxiously as he sat and moved his hands together, looking around nervously.
You walked to the counter and decided to order your favorite calming drink since it always soothed your soul.
Once you got it you crossed the Cafe and sat across from him, folding your hands carefully in front of you and you looked him in the eye.
He avoided it for a minute before making eye contact with you as you spoke.
"Tia said you broke up with me because you loved her more than you loved me. " you said, as you remained leaned forward, your gaze and words pressed into him carefully as he began to sweat a bit.
You remained calm as you continued, "Given, I did say the reason you probably broke up with her is because she kept pulling... Shady stuff like what she did. Though I didn't use those exact words," you gestured "and I didn't use bad ones but you get the gist." You finished, taking a sip of your drink.
He rubbed his thumbs together and sat a moment.
"She's lying- obviously." Damien muttered, rolling his eyes.
"But?" You said, since there was a slight up pitch to his voice at the end.
"But you were still rude first." He added, his hands and foot stilling.
You nearly rolled you eyes.
"So she... Refused to call you back, didn't tell you where she was goin-" you began
"She's her own woman." He interrupted you, brow furrowing.
You held up your hands in mock defense "-And I never said she wasn't," you began, placing your hands back down and cocking your head to look at him better, "But you were worried about her, and she was upset, and went without telling anybody where she was or why she was leaving. Which is very dangerous for a woman," you said holding up a finger as he was about to interject again "all I'm saying is you were incredibly upset and worried when she left suddenly and now you're defending her actions and pinning your anger down on me." You finished, straightening your head again and folding your hands back together.
He was silent for a few moments, biting his cheek and twisting his hands subconsciously, leg bouncing in a rhythmic movement.
You counted the bounces.
He finally spoke," You're right, and I'm sorry. I shouldn't have gotten so worried and I had no right to call that many times as it seems controlling. There's no reason I should pin my anger on you, I just feel like you're attacking her when she's not here to defend herself. " Damien explained, his hands fully open and his eyes looking downwards... Dejected.
You bit back the urge to defend yourself, this wasn't an argument. It was a rational discussion.
" I'm not meaning to attack her, I don't think that will do any of us any good. You're right, it was a little controlling but she also left suddenly and without warning, and if she had a history of mental health issues you should be concerned. However what she said to me hurt, and it was unpleasant and rude," you said, this time finding yourself shifting your attention to your drink as you began your next sentence" but I think you were lying when you said she wasn't telling the truth. "
You said, your voice clear and sharp.
You felt Damien's eyes shift to you in suprise.
" What? " He said, now leaning forward, voice laced with worry.
" The thing you did when you said it- you... Your thumbs were tapping together, you hesitated, your mind was preoccupied." You stated. "But when you began talking about how she was her own woman, and how you shouldn't have called her that many times, your hands were open, your body relaxed." you explained, shrugging.
He sat still and quiet.
Murmers of the Cafe floated between the space of you and him.
" I think this conversation is over." He said suddenly, grabbing his drink and beggining to stand up.
" I don't think it is. " You argued, snapping your head up to look at him.
He sighed angrily and with a huff sat back down.
"That isn't how we broke up." You said, hand tightening around your cup, "but if you love her more than me why did you do it? Why did you date me? Why did you date me especially when you knew that Shayne was in love with me?" You asked.
He pulled his fingers through his hair and gave an angry sigh before starting.
"I was upset, I thought I was over her, I gave into the feelings I had for you utterly and completely because I wanted to, even if I knew it would hurt Shayne. I just didn't think Tia would go out of her way to find and date him." He explained.
You nodded.
" Any more probing questions? " He asked. His voice was no longer angry or frustrated. It was tired, and it was sad.
You reached out and touched his forearm, gently.
He flinched away.
You drew back your hand.
He reached out and placed it back on his arm.
He held it there and brought his head down to rest on it.
He was quiet, and he squeezed your hand as you heard a small sniffle coming from him.
"I'm sorry." He mumbled, voice cracking, so low and so quiet you barely heard it.
You looked down at him.
"Thank you." You said.
You felt him tighten his grip on your fingers, but visibly relax.
You felt like "apology accepted. " or "it's okay." didn't fit in this situation, you didn't know what did, his sorry was from the heart but you also wondered from what side of his heart. The part that loved Tia, or the part that he said loved you?
Was that part even real?
You felt it in your hand and in his body language, that it was.
You knew he loved you, even if it was only a bit.
He still loved you.
But you couldn't say it was okay, because it wasn't.
It wasn't fair to you, or to him, to say it was okay.
He knew it.
So thank you was it.
"Thank you for apologizing, but I don't know if I can accept it right now." You thought, giving his hand a squeeze back. He released your hand and lifted his head up, wiping his eyes.
He nodded to you, once, and then stood up and left.
You let him leave this time, gripping your drink in your hands.
" I'm getting tired of hanging out with Damien and Shayne right now... Maybe I should hang out with somebody else." You thought, letting your mind stray.
But who?-
