You tugged on some yellow vans, a blue vans t-shirt, and a pair of loose fitting jeans. Topping it off with an over the shoulder style fanny pack... Or whatever they call it now. Shayne on the other hand was struggling into his shoes, his hair tussled from an after breakfast surprise from you, and he was blushing.
"not to like, totally roast you but... You havent dated much have you?" she asked.
He rolled his eyes and finally finished getting his shoe on. Why he struggled so much? Fate? Maybe a bit of flustered brain... Whatever it was he scoffed "no... Captain obvious?"
You laughed "for what it's worth you're good where it counts" you winked, letting him take it anyway he pleased
He grinned and opened the door for you.
"I'll leave first, get to the office 10ish minutes after me? You're usually pretty late anyways" you teased
"yeah yeah I know... I just-"
"listen..." you said quietly "I think you and Damien need to work some things out... Bestie to bestie before we continue this uh... In public..." you stated.
He stared down at his shoes.
He ran his fingers through his beautiful hair, fixing it... Slightly. The wind rippled his shirt and the warm hair danced across your skin as you took a breath.
Boundaries
Relationships need clear boundaries.
You reminded yourself standing firm in your opinion
"shayne. It's nothing against you or us. I'm happy with you, I really am, you're not... You're not a what do they call it-rebound to me... However Damien is your best friend and he also works with us I just-"
"I know... (y/n)... I know" he sighed. You could've already said it a million times from his tone and you shifted your feet
"get to work okay? All this mess can be discussed later. I promise everything's alright." shayne affirmed with you.
He was...
Good.
At being mature, at being an adult. Your heart still beat wildly in your chest from even setting this boundary. Even if it did keep your workplace- and their friendship... Safe.
A too long car drive and quite a few songs later you were standing on your new set.
The writers gathered around and went over some jokes, gave you the script (not that you all followed it 100% all the time--) and you casually talked to Courtney.
"so (y/n)" she grinned, giving your hand a small squeeze "what's been going on?"
You gave a half smile and squeezed her hand back "oh just... Messy life. And you?"
"I've actually been meaning to talk to you... Uh... About some things that I've... Heard around the office. Would you be down for a small walk while they're setting up?"
Your stomach dropped and your mouth went dry.
", sure" you choked out...
Courtney was always so pleasant and kind, she couldnt possibly have bad intentions-and dating among cast wasn't prohibited,
You weren't getting fired were you?
Your hands grew clammy and your face turned hot..
No...
Rumors?
God what is it now?
Can't you catch a break.
