You sent a text to Wes, sitting in your car at the Cafe. You were too tired to cry, even though it was the one thing you felt like doing. Frustrated, you hit your steering wheel and felt a shock of pain wave up your arm. You sighed in defeat, hitting your head on the steering wheel. Your car gave a small beep and you lifted your head up and leaned it gently against the headrest. You sat for awhile before getting the idea that Wes could help, you knew that he was always down for some donuts, or some weird adventure place that would keep you guys entertained for awhile.
He answered a few minutes later.
Y: Hey! Down to hang out? 😘
W: When and where?
Y: I was thinking now and anywhere.
W:real specific
Y: You know it!

You smiled as he texted one final text: I'll be at your place in a bit.

You tossed your phone in the passengers side seat and backed out and headed home, excited to hang out with your best friend for the first time in while, you missed him no matter how much you ignored that feeling sometimes.
It was hard to hang out with him through both of your time schedules and... Relationships.
Never the less you loved to hang out with Wes. He brought such a joy in your life, he always knew how to cheer you up, you always knew how to cheer him up, the way you two worked together was like a well oiled machine.
You and him knew everything about each other, and each other's families and friends. He was your best friend. Even though you two didn't hang out all the time, you both were still there for each other when it counted the most.
You pulled up and into your drive way to find him arriving behind you moments later, getting up out of his car and waving at you enthusiastically.
Exasperated, frustrated, and tired, you felt relief flood through you at the familiar sight of his silver hair and black leather jacket.
You waved back as enthusiastically, hopping out of your car and nearly tripping as you made your way over to him to give him a big hug.
He returned the hug with zeal, wrapping his arms around you and picking you up.
You giggled as you felt your feet leave the ground.
"How are you?" He asked.
You just rolled your eyes in response and gave a big over drawn sigh.
"Relationship issues." You muttered.
He tsked and set you down, ruffling your hair and motioning for you to get in his car.
"C'mon, we have some place to go." He said, opening his door.
"Ohhh already?" You asked, making your way around the car.
"Yep." He stated, turning the keys and letting the engine of the car roar to life.
You loved the drive, even if there was traffic.
You two listened to old music that wes loved (and you enjoyed), new music, indie music, pop music (that Wes didn't particularly know or enjoy, but still reluctantly listened to), and all the music in between and outside. The drive was long, and you both chatted and laughed, but your heart pulled. Something wasn't quite right. It usually never was, you two always seemed to be stuck in a rutt most of the time, but this was something even more serious.
You watched the sunset as Wes drove for what seemed like forever, before the traffic died down a bit and you both were on a somewhat empty road, driving around God knows where. The breeze from the rolled down windows cooled your hot face as you laid your head on you arm, letting your hand play in the wind. Your hair blew from your face, and you relished at the fresh air that hit your nose as you drove quite aways away from the city smog.
The conversation died down in happy tones, and you two talked a bit about frustrations in everyday life, bumps in the road of your relationships, and some complications you had with friends. You told him about your and Shayne's lost night, about Tia's rudeness, Damien's apology, the way you hurt. As he pulled off to a little empty stop overlooking some water, he turned his engine off and let the music play quietly as he played with his hands. You let your sentances finish and then you waited. There was something he needed to say and you knew it, you also knew that that's why he drove so far. To somewhere where the air was fresher, somewhere so far that it took nearly past sun down when you both left in the early after noon, somewhere were the air was a bit cooler, and the sounds of the city were long gone. Somewhere were you both knew that whatever you said stayed there, and didn't come back. After awhile of comfortable silence he finally decided he had the courage to speak, and you listened quietly, staring out across the water, looking at the beautiful colors the sun painted as it went to sleep.
"I didn't know how I wanted to say this," he began as he decided to focus on his shirt before looking back up at the sunset "but uh... God how do I say this!?" He said, rubbing his forehead. He pressed the palms of his hands into his eyes gently and stopped.
He sighed again and stopped, dropping his hands.
You waited patiently, "take your time." You said gently.
He nodded before taking a deep breath, and letting it go gently.
"I've been... Diagnosed with depression." He said quickly, his words were as sudden as a kid ripping off a bandaid so it wouldn't hurt.
"I don't want you to treat me differently," he said shrugging his arms a bit "which is why it was hard to tell you. Recently, I've been thinking about making a video and talking about it, and telling them that it's okay." He said, blinking quickly.
You placed your hand on his shoulder and looked at him "you're still Wes," you said "I would never treat you any differently for it. I also think you should make that video, it's important to let others who might be struggling know that they're not alone." You confirmed his thoughts, reassuring him that it was alright.
He let out a shakey breath and nodded.
"That was easier than I made it out to be." He muttered, sinking back into his seat and looking over the dark water.
You nodded, removing your hand from his shoulder.
"I'm here for you if you ever need me." You said, gently but firmly.
"Thank you." He replied, you both let the songs on the radio pick up again as you let conversation fall away.
"Are we going to stay in a hotel?" You asked after about an hour or two of silence, when the wind got cold enough for Wes to roll up his window. Then again, you pointed out to yourself, he was a freeze baby.
"Yeah." He said quietly, and turned on the lights of his car. He started his engine and backed out.
You watched cars pass on your way back to the nearest decent hotel, staring at the stars and talking to Wes about aliens and space. You both chatted about the possibility that life exits outside of your own, and how likely it was or wasn't.
You both played devils advocate, arguing both sides and then coming together to form far out theories. Laughing at the most ridiculous ones you could come up with.
He pulled into the hotel after 30 minutes of driving, and had you wait in the car as he went to go sign into the hotel and pay for it.
You finally turned your phone after the long hours of driving you and Wes had done, as well as the few hours of talking. You found that it was 3 AM.
You sighed as notifications from friends flooded your phone.
You really didn't miss having to talk to everybody all at once.
Few texts from shayne, one from Damien, three from mari, a few from Boze, and a couple from Ian.
{Shayne: How are you?}
{S: Haven'...}
{Damien: Hey I'm sorry if...}
{Mari: Want to go Tra...}
{M: +3}
{Boze: Heyyyyy gi...}
{Ian: Are you okay?}
{I: Let me kn...}
You blinked blearily and went through and answered them.
Shayne just asked how you were so you answered you were alright, Damien just apologized and you said it was okay, mari asked if you wanted to travel to a different country with you and sent you the details (you said yes),
Boze asked if you wanted to hang out tomorrow (you asked for a raincheck),
And Ian just wanted to know if you were okay.
You told him you'd get back to him on that as a knock sounded on the window. You jumped a bit but looking up you saw Wes smiling at you.
You grinned back and he got into the car.
"Pajama trip?" You asked.
"Pajama and icecream trip!" He said excitedly.
You whined "Wes it's three in the morning!"
"Three in the morning for ICE CREAM." He cackled, putting the car in reverse and driving towards the nearest Walmart.
You laughed and rolled your eyes.
You never expected anything more or anything less from Wes.
He was right after all, no matter how much you complained about it ice cream did sound pretty good right now.

GUESS who's back back back, back again gain gain.
Sorry to keep you guys waiting but I wanted to make this a long chapter!
I also wanted to improve upon the dynamics of the others interacting with you!
How was this chapter?

Want more of you interacting with other characters?

How does the vacation with mari sound as a good chapter? (where do you think you're going?)

How are you?

Any thing you'd like to add?

Any questions? (about the book(S) /chapter(S)/me?/smosh? /anything? /life advice? Idk! Let's do a Q&A right here)

Anyways sorry if some of the writing is weird I just got into listening to police scanners instead of music (Idk why) and sometimes Morse code comes through and Idk Morse code, and I'm slowly leaning police code so that's pretty cool. But Idk maybe there's some words that don't make sense, go ahead and call them out. You know why now.
