Chapter 20

   Ariel's POV

As the we walked away from the cafe,Ina asked,"So...how did you meet Manny?"

"What?How did I meet him?Why do you ask..?"

"Oh..I'm just curious,that's all.." Ina replied while blushing.

"Oh..I see what you mean!You mean how can a guy like him can be friends with a girl like me?"

'She says it like it's a bad thing...' Ina thought  'Maybe I said it in a wrong way..?'

Noticing the worried look on her face,I laughed. "I know what you meant,sweetheart."

"Well...it's actually quite a long story.."

"I got until 7...'Till then go on."

"Okay...well..It started when my parents went away on a buisness trip..

"Do you guys really have to go?"

"We have to sweetie,you know that."

"I know...but for a month?What kind of trip is this?"

"A very serious and important one.." Dad had grabbed both of their suitecases and transferred it into the small rented car, "I know this is the longest that we're leaving but this is -"

"All for me and the rents,I know..I know..Just...be sure to call when you get there,ok?"

"My,my,my.You,my dear are starting to sound like granny." Mum chuckled,putting a hand on my cheek. "Well,we better get going  now.Take care,sweetie."

"Few days later,I was sitting on the swings, when I heard...what was it? A sound,no it didn't even sound like a sound.It sounded like someone was being strangled."

"Hello,is anyone there?"

"Help...me.."

When I looked around,I could see a bloodied hand moving from the bushes.Of course,being a girl,I screamed.Looking back,I bet it looked kinda funny.Anyways,I got up and pulled the hand up.Along with it came a boy.Named Manny.

I took him back home.Actually I kind of dragged him since he already passed out.I nursed him back to health,in a way.He didn't want to go to the clinic,or the hospital.

Blood was covered from head to toe.A bruise was on his cheek,a swollen left eye,a broken hand and he was coming up with a fever.I did my best.But it wasn't easy,going to school,then going to work.

Sometimes,when I came back from work or school he wouldn't even be there.On those days,I'd find a note taped on the back of the front door.

2 weeks after nursing him,he sat me down and ask, "Where are your parents?"

"Buisness trip."

"Oh,aren't you scared of me?Not afraid I'd do something to you?"

"Why would I be?I trust you,and besides,you're injured so you can't do much."

"You...you trust me?A complete stranger?" He sounded suprise,I mean who wouldn't right?

"Um...yes?"

He sat there for a moment,thinking hard.He took both of my hands into his own and smiled.

"If that's the case,then I'll tell you what happen."

And he did.When he told the story,I couldn't really believe this was happening.It almost felt like I was in a movie or something.

"Wait,he told you just like that?" Ina interrupted "Without you asking him what happen?"

"Well....I was curious,of course but I thought it was related to something personal so I didn't really push it.It's crazy,I know but then again so is trusting a complete stranger."

Ina nodded and urged her to continue with the story

When he finished his story,I was in shock.He kinda gulped and look at me.What he'd been through was really....let's just say I was still suprise he was still standing here; alive.

I had gave out a small nervous smile and tried my best not to mess up what I wanted to say.I shifted in my seat and the next thing I knew,I was hugging him tightly.From that day onwards,we grew close and I tried to help him from his....problems.He may look mean and grumpy but,trust me he's a huge softie.

"So that's how first I met Manny.....injured and vunerable.."

"Oh....w-well...thanks for telling me this.I hope you don't mind.."

"Nah,I don't.Speaking of hugs,they are so weird.It's just long limbs wrapped around a person and they make you feel a lot of things you know?Like,butterflies in your stomach and happiness and they make you feel all gooey and - oh my gosh there's my bus!I'll talk to you later girlie,text me when you get home!"

Ina waved and laughed quietly as she watched her red-haired friend chase down her bus.'That girl is one of a kind.'

Akward ending,I know,I know.But pretty sweet huh? *Tries to ignore the fact that I haven't update in a few months but fails and cringes* sorry sorry but hey,I did warn you guys...At least I think I did... Anyways,hope you liked this chapter
