y/n hated telling people anything personal about herself. everyone already knew that her dad was a criminal and she was his trouble maker daughter. people read the headlines of the ross family, but no one knew what went on behind the scenes. no one knew that y/n struggled with anxiety and BPD. no one cared to ask what she was interested in or liked doing. y/n and ryan shared the same passion for music but no one knew she loved to sing and play guitar. no one, not even ryan knew what her step dad did to her when no one was around. she endured countless beatings but kept quiet because she knew her mom was happy with him.
"uh, i-i don't know." she stuttered, "you guys should know most things about me. i mean, my name is plastered over all the newspapers in town every other week."
"yeah but we don't know the REAL y/n ross" gee pressed.
"how about you guys give me your names and maybe i'll let you in about the REAL me." y/n mocked.
"okay well over here we got my chemical romance, which is my band." gee said cockily, "you already know mikes and frank. the guy with the fro is ray and the blonde is bob."
y/n nodded and motioned for the other boys in the room to continue.
"well as you know i'm pete." the black haired boy said, "we met earlier in the hallway. these fellas over here are patrick, andy, and joe. and we're fall out boy." pete smiled with his hands on his hips.
"well, moon, you obviously know me. but these assholes over here are spencer, jon, and brendon. and when you put us all together, we make up pet salamander or panic at the disco. we're having a hard time deciding."
y/n laughed at the outrageous band names,"what kinda name is 'pet salamander'"
"hey i came up with that name." spencer said.
"okay then, buddy. how about i decide while you play me one of your songs." the boys grumbled at her demand and got up to get their equipment.
"the affect you have on people blows my mind." mikey whispered in y/n's ear, his hot breath sending chills down her spine.
"i'm very demanding." she replied while studying his features. she didn't realize how good looking he was until now. mikey winked and turned his attention back towards 'pet salamander or panic at the disco'.
"this is called 'i write sins not tragedies'. it's uh, kinda funny because y/n knows exactly what this is about." ryan giggled into the mic.
the boys played and right as brendon finished singing "haven't you people ever heard of, closing a god damn door" she knew the true meaning of the song. she immediately started laughing a little too loud which caused the boys to stop playing. everyone turned their attention to the hysterical girl, awaiting an answer as to what was so hilarious.
as the giggles died down, y/n looked around and her checks instantly heated up. she glanced at ryan and noticed him chuckling to himself.
"can i tell 'em?" she asked, implying to tell them what the lyric was about. ryan shrugged as she continued. "the lyric, 'haven't you people ever heard of closing a god damn door' is what ry said to our mom when she walked in on him having a threesome. i heard him yell that from my bedroom and i broke my arm when i fell off my bed cause i was laughing so hard." the boys bursted into laughter except ryan who blushed a deep crimson red.
they boys sat around on the couches and were talking amongst themselves until pete spoke up, "hey! you never told us about yourself, y/n!"
"fine, fine. gather around."
"well for starters, ryan and i haven't had the easiest childhood. unfortunately i am the problem child, but i wasn't always this way. when i was just a little tyke, i used to be a goody two shoes and followed every rule possible. i first started to act out when i got to first grade and the problems i have now, sprouted from then. i've built a reputation of being a bad kid and i would obviously get judged if i tried to be a good kid and changed my ways." she paused and looked up at the boys. they urged her to continue so she did.
"i know i look intimidating and i've done bad things. i've tried to apologize but it doesn't end up very well. if you get me drunk enough, i'll spill all my deepest darkest secrets." she finished as the boys giggled.
y/n continued to talk to the boys about her life and her childhood stories that involved ryan. after awhile, all the boys scattered. some played video games while others played music. she snuck out to the backyard to get a little pace and quiet and some fresh air. she stood in the cold with her eyes closed, letting the breeze hit her face. the sliding glass door creaked open and closed and footsteps approached the peaceful girl.
"mind if i join?"
