Brianna, the girl, who everyone either hates or loves, was heading straight towards Scarlet with her minions, Bianca and Stella, following close behind. It was the whole cliche look and was the exact type of people Scarlet was trying to avoid. Everyone got out of their way as Brianna pushed through the crowd.

"Who the hell do you think you are?" Brianna shouted as she stood in Scarlet's face.

"What, you think that since you're new, you can just show up and steal other people's boyfriends? Well, guess what, you can't because your nothing but a-"

"Alright, let me stop you right there before you say something you will regret. One, I don't know who you are talking about, and two, I'm not stealing anyone's boyfriend!" Scarlet shouted back, annoyed.

Brianna was seriously getting on Scarlet's nerves. The whole school was, now, watching the stand-off between Scarlet and Brianna, and Scarlet was experiencing some serious deja vu. It was like the fight she had with Kaily the day she left home. The difference was that ever since Scarlet left, to be on her own, Scarlet has obtained more confidence in herself, more independence, and most of all, Scarlet felt stronger. Scarlet didn't know what she was doing, but what she did know was that she wasn't going to tolerate someone walking all over her again.

"Oh, yeah, then what were you doing with Aiden." Now Scarlet was stunned. She was here about Aiden. Of course, it was about Aiden, Scarlet thought to herself, but she didn't expect the news to travel so fast.

"I don't need to explain anything to you, but he was, just, being nice!" Scarlet shouted back at Brianna.

"You're lying. Aiden doesn't give rides to people to be nice! You're just trying to take him from me." Scarlet threw back her head and let out a loud, humorless laugh.

"Listen here, I'm not the one who asked for the ride, and FYI I'm not looking for a boyfriend! So I ain't trying to steal Aiden from you. Got it?" It was true Scarlet wasn't looking for a boyfriend. She was trying to stay away from Aiden because of this. She didn't want the whole school watching her, but her plan of not going noticed seemed to have become nonexistent.

"Just stay away from him," Brianna states and walks off with her minions. The rest of the school was watching Scarlet and Casey, who was behind Scarlet the whole time, glare at the backs of Brianna. Scarlet rolled her eyes and grabbed Casey's wrist.

"Come on, Casey, let's go." Casey agreed, still stunned by what had just gone down, and walked off with Scarlet to class.

Aiden hadn't heard about what happened until 2nd period. Mark told Aiden, and for some unknown reason, he felt guilty. He couldn't help but think that it was his fault. During lunch, Aiden saw Scarlet leaving the cafeteria, knowing now was his chance to get her number. Aiden knew he had last period with her, but she avoids Aiden. She keeps her distance, and Aiden didn't understand why.

Scarlet was heading to leave the cafeteria to meet up with Casey at the bleachers when she heard her name shouted from across the room by a deep, sexy voice. She knew it was Aiden's voice, so she stopped moving forward and turned to look at Aiden as he was speeding to reach where Scarlet stood.

"Hey, Aiden," Scarlet greeted solemnly. Scarlet was in no mood to deal with any more drama.

"I heard about what happened. I'm sorry about that." Scarlet was confused for a second why he was apologizing, he didn't tell Brianna to pull that stunt, and she didn't blame him for what she did. He was being nice, and Scarlet understood that.

"It's not your fault."

"Yes, it is. You were in that situation because of me. And for the record, I'm not dating Brianna. I think she's an annoying little brat," Scarlet smiled at his comment. It made her happy hearing that they felt the same way about Brianna.

"I didn't think you were. And as far as the brat thing goes, I agree 100 percent," Scarlet said, laughing, causing Aiden to start laughing too.

"Can I get your number? That way we could talk some more. And if you need a ride, you can call me." Scarlet smiled hesitantly and nodded her head, handing him her number and walking out to the bleachers to meet up with Casey.

Aiden was shocked that Scarlet had agreed to give him her number. He was sure she was going to say no. Most people are constantly attempting to talk to Aiden. They put so much effort into it, and it gets annoying. Scarlet was different though she didn't care who Aiden was. She just ignored everyone. Aiden found himself intrigued by the ways they were alike. They both don't talk to people, both have no connections with their parents, and they both have secrets about a past that they don't want out. She was a mystery, and Aiden was determined to figure Scarlet out.

After school was over, Scarlet went to her new job, while Aiden went to the warehouse. Aiden had asked his tech guy, Jack, to do a background check on Scarlet. Earlier that day, Jack had texted Aiden, notifying him that he discovered something odd. Aiden stepped into Jack's office and asked Jack what he found in his austere manner.

"Nothing, that is what's odd. The only person I found under that name and similar description died over 30 years ago. The other one is at your school. She has no social media that I can find, no birth certificate, nothing. Just that her name is Scarlet Greenwood, lives in New York City, and goes to Roosevelt high," Jack explained to Aiden, leaving them both confused.

"Are you saying she doesn't exist?" Aiden questioned, making sure he understood what Jack was telling him.

"I'm saying either she is good at hiding, or she isn't who she says she is." Aiden began to question everything he thought he knew about Scarlet. When Aiden was at the cafe with her, Scarlet was honest. Aiden could always tell when someone was lying to him. That's how he knew there was more to her story, but if she isn't who she claims, then who is she, he wondered.

"Look for any 17-year old that has no connection with her dad and has a similar description. There has to be something on her," Aiden demanded as he moved towards the door.

"It will take some time without a full description and a real name."

"I don't care. Find out who she is!" Aiden yelled then stormed out of the room. Nothing was making any sense to Aiden; why is Scarlet lying about who she is? How did she lie and Aiden not catch it? And who the hell is she? His mind questioned repeatedly.

A few hours passed of Aiden walking around. Aiden began thinking about Scarlet's description. Long wavy red hair, tall, fair skin, and grey eyes with green rims. That is when it clicked. He had seen those eyes before, but he had no idea where. Aiden then got a call from Mark that Hank collected the money he owed, and Aiden volunteered to take care of it as he made his way to the abandoned ally where he usually took care of drop-offs, but the events ahead no one was expecting.
