"Come on, get up, Aid!" Aiden groaned, hearing the sound of his sister's voice screaming as the door flew open. Chelsie plopped beside Aiden on his bed and shook Aiden. He groaned and attempted to hide under his pillow, not wishing to wake.
"Sorry big bro, but you have somewhere to be." That is when Aiden remembered he was meeting with Scarlet. He threw the pillow aside and waited for his sister to leave his room. Once the door closed, he left his bed and got in the shower. Aiden had no idea why he was so excited, but what he did know was he didn't want to be late and keep calling Scarlet the new girl.
Once his shower was over, he went to his closet and grabbed a black polo off the hanger, black jeans, and his usual leather jacket. He went back into his bathroom to comb his black hair, then walked down to the kitchen, where Chelsie was waiting.
"What has got you all worked up? You never get up that quickly. I usually have to force you," questioned Chelsie with a raised brow. Aiden didn't tell Chelsie where he was going so early. He knew that she would get the wrong idea if she told people, so he decided to keep it to himself.
"Nothing Chelsie. I'm just meeting up with the boys."
"Uh..huh sure," Chelsie knew he was lying. Aiden never gets up so quickly unless he has a meeting, and even then, he moves slowly.
"Bye, sis. See you later," Aiden said, kissing her on the cheek and leaving.Meanwhile, Scarlet woke to the rustling of the trash and the honking of cars driving past. She looked at the time and remembered she had to meet up with Aiden.
"Crap," Scarlet mumbled to herself. She was running late and hadn't even changed clothes yet, so she got up and quickly changed. She brushed her hair, then rushed to the cafe.
When she entered the cafe, she looked around to see if Aiden had arrived yet. Her eyes landed on Aiden, who appeared to had been waiting for a while. Aiden already had a cup of coffee on the table that was already almost gone. Scarlet walked over to the table Aiden was sitting at, and when he looked up, he saw Scarlet, and a smile quickly appeared on his face. She returned the smile and took a seat at the booth.
Aiden had only been waiting for 10 minutes. He heard the door open, and a smile instantly appeared. He didn't know why, but when she walked in, he got excited that he would finally get to know the mysterious girl before him.
"Hey, sorry I'm late," Scarlet said calmly as she sat across from Aiden. He offered to order Scarlet a drink, which she accepted. Aiden ordered her a cappuccino and a surprise pastry in hopes of getting in Scarlet's good graces. Even though Scarlet told Aiden not to pay, he felt like he should.
"So you won the bet. What are these questions you must know about me?" Aiden could hear the slight sarcasm in Scarlet's voice.
"Well, to start with, what is your name?" Scarlet then laughed, adorably, before she answered.
"Now I won't have to be calling you the new girl," Aiden commented, and Scarlet smiled amused.
"Wow. Was that really the best you could come up with?" Scarlet remarked, causing Aiden to chuckle.
"Well, I can't make up a nickname for you if I don't know you. Now, can I?" Aiden commented, which obviously annoyed her, but Scarlet smiled at the same time.
"I guess not," she responded, agreeing.
"Exactly," Aiden said cockily as she rolled her eyes.
"Just ask what you want to ask." Scarlet found herself having a good time, and froze. She needed to move things along before she grew attached to Aiden, so she jumped to the point.
"Alright. Are you new in town?"
"Obviously."
"How did you know...Casey, was it? On the first day?"
"When I moved into town, Casey helped me out, and she even enrolled me at Roosevelt high."
"I'm glad she did." Scarlet blushed at his comment, but the moment those words slipped through Aiden's lips, he realized how cheesy it sounded, so he quickly changed the subject and went back to asking questions.
"What about parents?" Scarlet looked down at her pastry and thought about what she was going to say.
"I never met my dad, and my mom has never cared about me, so I am kinda on my own." Aiden looked into her eyes and saw she was hurting but was also hiding something. Aiden felt drawn to Scarlet from the moment he saw her, but hearing her talk and getting to know her, he felt a bond that he has never felt with anyone before.
"I'm sorry. Both my parents died when I was 13, and I have been taking care of my sister ever since." Aiden looked up at Scarlet, and for once, he didn't see pity, instead, he saw understanding. Then she smiled, and his worries fell away.
"I guess we both are on our own. Like lone wolves."
"I guess you're right," Aiden said, agreeing with a smile.
"To a toast then," Scarlet said, raising her cappuccino. Aiden was curious about what they were toasting to, so he copied her movements.
"To lone wolves," Scarlet sounded.
"To lone wolves," Aiden repeated as they clicked their cups together. After they took a sip of their drinks, they both burst into a fit of laughter.
Aiden wasn't the type that usually laughed, but every time he talked to Scarlet, he would end up laughing and actually being happy. They chatted on and on about many things. They both asked each other questions and had a good time. Scarlet was surprised to find out she had a lot in common with Aiden, and he was pleasant to be around, something she didn't expect from him. Scarlet wished she could tell him the truth about what had happened back home but knew she couldn't risk it. She didn't know him, and he was still trouble, no matter how sweet or how much she liked him.
After they talked at the cafe, Aiden gave Scarlet a ride to school, allowing them more time to talk, but since the school was only seven minutes away, they didn't have much time. Scarlet thanked Aiden for the ride as she got out of the car and looked at him before she shut the car door.
"It was no problem. I mean, we were going to the same place." He smiled, which made Scarlet smile back without her even knowing that she was doing it.
"Thanks anyway," Scarlet replied and closed Aiden's car door.
When Scarlet walked into the front yard of the school, people automatically started staring. She kept walking to the school doors to find Casey, ignoring the glares from everyone. As Scarlet walked down the school halls, people started whispering and watching Scarlet walk down the narrow hall. She tried to ignore them, but it was getting difficult.
Scarlet heard someone call out her name from down the hall. She turned around and saw Casey running up to her. When Casey reached Scarlet, she tried to calm Cassandra down, who seemed like she was about to have a panic attack. Scarlet asked what was wrong as she put her hands on Casey's shoulders to try to calm her down.
"Did you just come out of Aiden's car?" Casey asked worriedly. Scarlet looked at her friend, confused.
"Yeah. So? Cass, what is wrong?"
"It's Brianna she's upset and out for your blood."
"What?" That is when Scarlet saw her coming. Marching down the hall, and she then knew what Casey meant.
