A New Life

Hospitals-Part Two

It's been a week since Cassy broke the news to me about Aiden. I haven't left the hospital since, despite the fact that I was discharged and my burns have healed, for the majority. Neither have I heard from Xavier or Christian, which was worrying me a little. I know what he is capable of, and I know that if he doesn't forgive me for disrespecting him things will become even worse. But as I sit in Aiden's room staring at the machines I realize that just because my family hates them doesn't mean I have to. I don't have to try and forget them and move on. I need to stay by my friend's side and find a way to make my family understand and accept that I'm not letting anyone go.

"Miss its past visiting hours. You need to head out,"

"You know you've been telling me that every night for the past 3 days, yet, I'm still here and I'm not leaving until he wakes up" the nurse sighs and shakes her head.

"Miss I can't keep letting you stay here every night. It could be months before he wakes up."

"I know...but I'm not leaving," I tell the nurse, and she grabs Aiden's medical binder that was sitting on the side table. She takes a moment and observes his charts.

"I suppose I can let you stay here for a couple more days, but only if you take care o yourself also," she tells me without looking up from the binder.

"I was your nurse too, and I want you to heal fully," she finished and I nod with a smile.

"Thank you"

She sets down the binder back on the table and walks out of the room. I turn my attention back on Aiden. his black hair was disheveled, his once tan skin has turned pale and sickly with minimal burns, his eyes were closed like they would not open again. I was worried about what the doctor had told me, for if he remained in this weakened state he could forget major parts of his life. I don't know when it was I fell asleep, but in the morning I woke to Cassy standing on the opposite side of the bed looking down at me. I lifted my head up from the bed and rubbed my eyes.

"Scarlet you need to go home, take a shower, eat some real food!" she tells me, and I knew she was right, I just couldn't bring myself to leave him.

"Cassy, if I leave something could happen: he could wake up or Xavier could show up to try and kill him again,"

"I understand that Scarlet, but if he did wake up, wouldn't you rather him see you looking healthy and clean?"

"Of course I would prefer that, but..."

"No buts," she says cutting me off.

"Now you get up, go home, take a shower, and get yourself some real food!" Cassy tells me as she yanks me up from the chair, pushing me towards the door.

"What about...?"

"I'll stay with him, you go!" She interrupts as she pushes me completely out of the room, and I stop trying to fight her. I knew she wasn't going to let me stay here without getting myself cleaned up.

[Christian's POV]

"How's the kid doing?"

"Still in a coma, a few of the nurses say that he may not wake up the others say he could wake up any moment."

"Well, then we have to act fast. We can't let that boy destroy everything we've worked for."

"I know father. When will we act?

"In two days, and I need you to go and find out when is the best time. I know my daughter has been glued to him and I'll need you to distract her when the time comes. Can I trust you to do this?"

"Of course you can."

"Good, now leave," I do as Xavier says and leaves his office. I don't know how I'm going to go through with this. This will devastate Scarlet, and I already let her down once. I can't do that again. I need to somehow find a way to warn her of our father's plan. I haven't seen Scarlet since that day in the hospital, but I know she understands. She knows how Xavier can be. I head up to my room, but before I can get the chance to reach my door Rachel stops me.

"Christian, What is he planning? I know Xavier, and I know he's not going to quit until Aiden is dead."

"I know, but there's nothing we can do. You know that if we try to stop him he will kill us. The best we can do is warn her of what's coming."
