You could not believe it. You were no longer in your apartment. The world was spinning around you as you were faced with new sights, sounds, and smells.
First things first. You needed to catch the bus that picked up the other residents at your complex. You were not a fan of public transportation. The reason being is because you could not stand the crowded environment but, you did not have a choice. You did not own a car so the bus would have to do. You looked down at your phone to check the time. It was 7:30. The bus did not come until 8:00. 30 minutes alone? Outside? In the dark? This is Gotham for God's sake. You were not that nieve. You decided that you would stay safely in the small sitting area in your building. You put your headphones in and blasted 7 rings by Ariana Grande. That song made you feel untouchable. Luckily, no one bothered you. The time by yourself was blissful.
After cycling through a couple of songs in your playlist, you checked the time again. It was 7:55. Time to head out. You stepped outside where you were greeted with the smell of cigarette smoke. You winced in disgust. After you made your way to the bench, waiting for the bus, you sat down and took everything in. The bright beautiful city lights, the (somewhat) fresh air, and the sound of people talking amongst themselves. Right then and there you came to a realization, you have missed this. You have been missing out on so many small but significant things. You were always stuffed away. It was so nice to be outside and be a part of city life. Gotham truly is a charming place.
Your thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the bus approaching your stop. The bus came to a halt and the doors opened. At that moment you were frozen. You could not move. You could not stand up to get onto the bus. You sat like this for about 15 seconds. The bus driver looked at you confused and said ¨Look, I don't have all night. Are you getting on or what?" His voice snapped you out of your anxious thoughts. You blinked a few times, swallowed the lump in the back of your throat and nodded. You got onto the bus.
This was going to be a difficult night.
