When you woke up the next morning you didn't want to get out of bed. You weren't ready to face Jervis. As much as you despised him at the moment your heart still ached for him. You couldn't deny that you still loved him. No matter what heinous act that he committed you always would.

You rolled over to face your nightstand. The envelope that he had given you was still sitting there, waiting for you to open it. You figured that now would be an appropriate time as any to read it. You definitely needed some reassurance.

You took it off of your nightstand and began to open it. That's when you realized that there was something in it other than paper. It was a ring. It had a gold band with a rose. Bastard. He knew that you were a sucker for roses. You couldn't help but smile and put it on. It fit perfectly. You didn't forgive him by any means but you had to admit, the gesture was very kind. You took a deep breath and unfolded the light grey card stock. The whole page was filled with writing.

Sweet angel,

If you are reading this right now that means that you are in a difficult state of mind and are in need of reassurance. I want you to take notice of the ring that I put inside of this envelope for you. I know that red roses are your favorite. Not only are roses beautiful to look at but they are deeply symbolic. Love, longing, desire, respect, admiration, and devotion are words associated with this ravishing flower. They are also words that I associate with you. Our relationship is growing stronger and stronger everyday. We have something amazing and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I have a matching ring. Whenever you feel the slightest amount of doubt I want you to look at that ring and know that everything is going to be okay. When I can't be with you this ring will keep us connected. I love you with all of my heart and more. Thank you for making me the happiest that I've been in years. I hope that this letter has helped you. Hold onto it, treasure it, and keep it somewhere safe so you can read it again when you need to. Now, dry your tears, take a deep breath, and keep your chin up. Do not let your anxieties define you.

Love always,
-Jervis.

You were crying your eyes out as you read these words. You could tell that he meant all of it. As previously said you couldn't deny it. Your love for him was still strong. You would be by his side no matter what.

You pulled yourself together and got ready to head to Arkham to visit Jervis. Arkham couldn't be that bad. Right?
