These past months were tremendously painful for you. Everything was deteriorating rapidly right before your eyes. Your patience, will, and stability, was a thing of the past. You longed to see Jervis. To see his face, hear his voice, feel his touch. As much as you hated to admit it you couldn't function without him. You wanted to believe that you didn't need a man to be happy or fulfilled in life but that simply wasn't the case. It was like a piece of you was missing. You weren't complete without him. The only thing that you could do was remain curled up on your couch with your eyes glued to the door. The way you were acting was pathetic but you couldn't help it.
While you were wallowing in self-pity you heard a soft knock at the door. Could it really be him? Your eyes widened. You took a gulp of air and turned the doorknob. You immediately started laughing when you saw who it was. "No fucking way!" It was him. It was actually Jervis. You don't know what came over you but you ran towards him and jumped into his arms. You knew that it was extremely cliche but you were so thrilled to see him that you couldn't think straight. He was slightly taken aback but let out a chuckle. "Seems like someone is happy to see me." He set you down and hugged you, placing his chin on top of your head and gently rocking you back and forth. He pulled away and interlocked his arm with yours. Tipping his hat he said, "Come, we have much to discuss." You let out a quick exhale through your nose and followed him to the couch, making sure to close the door behind you.
You now sat across from him. Smiling like a goof you said, "I know that you have much to tell me so I will let you talk uninterrupted but first I just want to say that I have missed you so much. You have no idea. These months without you have been hell." He reached over to you. Now cupping your face he spoke softly and with intent. He was gazing directly into your eyes. "I couldn't have said it any better myself my love." He kissed your forehead and slumped back in his chair. Letting out a sigh he began to tell you how he had ended up in Arkham. "I've never told you this but, I had a sister. Her name was Alice. She was a very smart and beautiful girl. We lost our parents at a young age and I became her guardian. All I wanted to do from that point on was to protect her. I loved her with all of my heart but she didn't want anything to do with me. God only knows why. When she was an adult and no longer needed a guardian she took the first opportunity she could to get away from me. I insisted that she stay but she wouldn't listen. She didn't even tell me where she was going. It wasn't until much later that I found out that she moved to Gotham. I then made it my mission to find her and ask her why she abandoned me. That's what brought me here. Do you remember when I left you that note on your mirror? That day was when I set out to look for her. I went to the GCPD to ask if anyone knew anything about her. I then met detective Jim Gordon and asked him to help me search for her. I deeply regret that decision now. Jim had found Alice but kept her from me because she claimed that I would manipulate her. I would never do anything of the sort. She was everything to me." Jervis briefly stopped as tears fell from his eyes. He took a few seconds to compose himself and resumed. "The next day I found Alice when she was allowed to leave the GCPD and tried to talk to her. She was blinded by a horrible rage and said that she never wanted to see me again. She backed further and further away from me. Then she...slipped off the ledge that we were standing on and she was impaled on a pole. I stood there in shock, not being able to process what had just happened. I had lost my sister. A bystander saw the scene and called the GCPD. When they arrived I tried to explain what had happened but they wouldn't listen to me. They thought that I had pushed Alice off the edge and immediately took me into custody, sending me to Arkham."
You sat there completely speechless. Both of you sat in silence for a minute. You cleared your throat. "Will you give me a moment please?" You excused yourself and walked to the bathroom. Suddenly a switch went on in your head and you were consumed by anger. You were angry at the GCPD, angry at the failed system that contained Jervis without any sort of reasoning, but most of all you were angry at Alice. You would never say this to Jervis but you were glad that bitch was dead. With clenched fists, you walked over to the mirror and looked at the reflection staring back at you. There was a fire in your eyes. You wanted to watch this city burn and hear people screaming for mercy. You were no longer the anxious, soft-spoken, self-conscious person that you once knew. You were ready to make Gotham your bitch.
With a sinister smile on your face, you walked back to Jervis and grabbed his shirt. His face almost touching yours. You whispered, "Let's burn Gotham to the ground." You kissed him roughly. As you moved away you bit down on his bottom lip. He looked at you with a shocked expression. "What's wrong Jervis? Never seen a woman in power?" You let out a quick laugh and said: "What's the first step?" He walked towards you swiftly, picked you up, and carried you to the bedroom.
