Alex and The Unwanteds

Part 5

Before leaving Alex asked the nurses if they could tell him when one of them wakes up. They nodded to him and shooed him out. Alex went straight outside, grabbed his weapons and walked to his room.

Once in his room, Alex took a quick shower and jumped on his bed falling to sleep.

Alex woke up and looked at the clock in his wall. Noticing it was 8:43, he groaned and got up. He put some black shorts and grabbed a white T- shirt. It was his favorite colors so whatever.

Wearing flip flops he walked downstairs and walked into the infirmary. He looked where he expected to see Samheed, but he was gone. He kept a mental note to apologize to him later. He looked at the two people he saved yesterday and sighed seeing them still asleep.

He quickly went to grab some bread and walked outside. He saw mostly everyone as Florence began to talk. It seemed that he was almost late. He listened as he ate his bread.

She showed the class some moves and explained the situation on when to use them. After a few hours of listening and after listing to her other class of the use of weapons, Florence walked up to him.

"Today we are going to be fighting with only using our legs." She smiled at him and kept talking, "If u need anything come talk to me." She then looked at me and said, "I'm pretty sure you know how to fight with your legs as well as you can fight with your hands. So you can leave if you want and do whatever you want."

Alex smiled at her and said, "Sure thanks." He then turned to leave so he can get his weapons which he left in his room so he could go to the forge and add something to them.

Alex grabbed his weapons and quickly walked back to the forge where he saw Mr Johnson pouring steel or whatever into a container of the shape of a blade and let it set aside to cool down.

Alex said after Mr Johnson was done, "Can i use a forge?"

"Aren't you supposed to be in another class?" Asked Mr Johnson.

"Florence said that im free to do whatever i want since i know enough things." He replied.

"If that's the case, then you could. It seems you did quite well making the weapons" Mr johnson said as he looked at the weapons Alex held.

"Thanks. If you don't mind do you know where i could get some leather and some paint? Like some really good paint?" Alex said.

"The leather should be under the sinks in the forgery. I'm pretty sure you want to paint the weapons so, some good paint would probably be in the shed. We have a ton of things in the shed that we don't need so feel free to take whatever you want from it. Tools should be under the sink as well if you need something." Mr johnson said.

Alex thanked him and put his weapons down on a table that was in the forge he used yesterday. It seemed that nobody liked to use the forges in the end.

Alex grabbed a tool that he used yesterday to dethatch the tooth from the dragon. He first then walked to the shed and opened the doors. The shed was quite big and the he saw the paint he need after looking around.

Brining the paint back, he put it on the table and then walked back to the dragoon. Grabbing another tooth, he walked back. Once back he grabbed the leather and started to make a sling and a scabbard. After a while he made both and tried putting the sling on his back. It didn't feel well on his back so he started to toy with it for a few more minutes.

Once finished he put it back on. He smiled when he got it right. He then put the spear through it. It fit in really well and then he tried making the double scabbers.

After doing the final touches on it, he put the swords in which went in comfortably. His smile grew wider and then he put the weapons aside. He was going to make a few more weapons when he heard shouts.

Alex turned to see what the noise was about and jogged toward the commotion. Hearing that the girl was awake, he quickly ran towards the infirmary.

Once he entered the infirmary, the nurses were trying to calm the girl but they were to no avail. Alex pushed the nurses aside softly and then looked her in the eyes.

The startled girl looked at him and then began to calm down when she looked at him in the eyes. Alex's heart quickened when he saw her eyes. They were gold. Her eyes looked strange like his. He then remembered something about gold eyes but couldn't quite put his fingers on it.

"It's going to be ok. Can you understand what language i am speaking?" Alex smiled at her. The girl nodded and looked at his hands which he signed what he was saying. She looked at him and then at the nurses. Then nodded.

"Well that's great." Alex said still smiling "Are you thirsty? Are you hungry?''

The girl nodded and signed to him saying that she was really thirsty and hungry and would really like some food.

Alex asked one of the nurses if they could bring some food. Almost tripping each other they all scrambled out of the room to get the hungry girl some food.

The girl laughed as she saw them but the quickly grimaced when she felt the pain on her neck. Alex frowned when he saw this.

"If you would like, I could take those of for you. I've taken many off before I arrived here." Alex told her. Her eyes widened and then began to sign really quickly.

"Damm, calm down, my eyes are too slow to see what your signing." Alex laughed a bit trying to break the tension she was giving off. She slowed down and she told about big birds coming to peck their eyeballs if they tried to take it off.

Alex laughed at this and shook his head. "That's not true. I've taken many of those things off, and nothing happen to them. I've even had to provide shelter for one for a while and nothing happened and even if that lie was true, I would protect you."

Her eyes watered and she began to cry at his words. Alex surprised, awkwardly hugged her as she cried. After awhile, she nodded and signed that she would gladly accept his offer but to be careful.

Alex smiled at her again, and nodded. "I'll do it later if that's fine with you." She shrugged. "Seriously what's wrong with those nurses. How long does it take to bring some food." Alex said looking back. "I'll go get some food. I'm feeling quite hungry myself."

Alex got up from a chair but when he turned he felt a hand on pull his shirt. Alex turned around to see her blushing a bit pulled away and shook her head.

"Don't worry I'll be quick." Alex flashed her a smile and jogged out the room straight to the diner. He asked for several sandwitches and a couple drink which he had trouble carrying back.

Once he made it back, he saw mr. Today to speaking to her.

Once arriving Mr. Today looked and said, "Dear me, let me help you."

"It's ok i got it." Alex said and put it down on a table. He grabbed a sandwich and gave it to the girl. Once given she took a bite out of it and quickly ate it down and licked her lips. Alex laughed a little while Mr. Today chuckled. She blushed again while Alex gave her another sandwich and a drink.

"Do you want one too, Mr. Today?" Alex asked handing out a sandwich to him.

He shook his head, "I'm fine thank you."

Alex shrugged at took a bite out of it.

"If you don't mind Alex, can you translate for me? I don't know how to sign." Mr. Today said.

"Sure." Alex responded.

"What's your name if you don't mind me asking.?" Mr Today asked.

She signed to Alex saying her name was Sky, and that her brothers name was Crow. Alex told everything she exactly said.

After a while of Alex giving Sky her sandwiches, Mr. Today excused himself saying, "Alex if you don't mind, I know you have only been
