"Oh my gosh! We have so much in common!" I realized.
I had been getting to know Rick a bit more and he's a really sweet guy.
"So, um, don't you have to get back to your wedding?" he asked.
"Oh, crap. Yeah, I forgot about that. Look, just give me your number and I'll text you tomorrow and we can meet up. Sound good?"
"Yeah."
"Okay, now I have to face my parents and my best friend. Yay," I said sarcastically.
"Do you want me to come with you?" he smiled. Gosh, his perfect smile.
"Oh, no, it's okay. I don't want to stir up more drama today. Nice meeting you, boyfriend," I empphasized the word "boyfriend." It felt good calling him that.
"See ya, Ashley," he waved.
I walked back to the reception place, which took a long time. When I reached the entrance, I took a deep breath, and walked in.
My parents were searching around for me, frantically. So was Rydel.
Then I spotted Ross and Laura, making out. Ew.
"Mom, dad, Rydel, I'm here," I waved to them.
They saw me and breathed a sigh of relief.
They didn't even ask where I had gone, they just went back to dancing or whatever they were doing.
Rydel walked up to me. "Where were you?" she asked.
"Um, nowhere," I replied.
She raised an eyebrow. "I've known you since we were kids, Ash. I know that 'nowhere' is always somewhere. So out with it. Spill."
I sighed. "Please don't make my day worse, okay Delly? I'll tell you sometime soon."
"It better be soon enough!" she yelled as I walked away.

*the next day*
I woke up to see Ross right next to me. On the same bed. What the heck?
Then I started to remember last night. After the reception, our parents forced us to sleep on the same bed for the night. Laura was really mad about that. So was I.
I yawned and he woke up.
"Your yawns are really loud, Ash," he stretched his arms.
"Look, as soon as I get the chance, I'm filing a divorce. You better be happy with that," I glared.
"I don't care," he shrugged. Then he smirked. Oh, his evil smirks. "You should start to brush your hair, Ashley. It's a mess."
"I just woke up, idiot," I rolled my eyes.
I went to the closet to pick something to wear. I settled on an R5 t-shirt, ripped skinny jeans, and my pink Vans. Then I put on some makeup and curled my hair.
When I went downstairs, I saw Laura sitting on the couch.
I scrunched up my nose on disgust. "What are you doing here?"
"My boyfriend lives here, genius," she snapped.
"Whatever," I mumbled, then I went into the kitchen to get a breakfast bar and some juice.
After I finished that, I got my phone and my purse and left the house.
I got into my car and drove to the Lynch house.
Ryland opened the door when I rang the doorbell. "Hi, Ash, what are you doing here?"
"I came here to see your goldfish," I snorted.
"We don't have a goldfish," he said, confused.
"Exactly," I rolled my eyes and walked in.
"Hi, Delly," I waved. She was watching the boys play Call of Duty.
"Let's go upstairs," she suggested.
We went upstairs to her room and we sat down in her bed.
"I need to tell you something," she whispered. "I like Ratliff."
My jaw dropped. "So, Rydellington is real?"
"Well, not really. I'm not sure if he likes me back," she shrugged.
"Seriously? Haven't you noticed all the looks he's been giving you?" I asked.
"Really? He likes me?"
I nodded. "You should go tell him how you feel!"
Her eyes went wide. "Right now?"
"Sure, why not?"
She took a deep breath and went downstairs. I heard her say, "Ratliff, I need to tell you something." Then they went into the basement to talk.
I smiled. Don't I play matchmaker well?
