Chapter 37

Jimmy:
I looked at Maverick's limp body on the ground as I watched Sarah do everything in her power to wake him up.

I wanted to pull her close, I wanted to comfort her but I couldn't move.

My eyes wandered around as it moved from Sarah to my surroundings. It just doesn't make sense, why is he still whole? Why isn't he broken? Why didn't he shatter into pieces?

"Mav..." I heard Sarah whimper as she shook him awake. No response. She slowly turned to me and I saw the tears wont stop falling.

"Jimmy," she called out, I snapped out of my thoughts and walked up to her.

"I don't get it." She cried. I pulled her close and just held onto her.

I could feel her heartbeat, I could feel her heart but what surprised me is that I could feel her mind going wild.

"This can't be happening." I heard her go in my mind.

"Jimmy, what do we do?"She asked, determined to get a response from Maverick.

"I-I-I don't know ." I stuttered out.

I knelt down beside her and stared at Maverick.

"Wake up, Mav. Wake up." Sarah said as she held his wrist.

She closed her eyes and pain instantly shot through my whole body. I winced it pain and I think Sarah noticed.

"Oh no." She said as she put a hand over her mouth.

"What?" I groaned.

"I knew it." She said as she shook her head.

"What? Knew what, Sarah?" I asked as I stood up.

"It all makes sense." She added.

"What makes sense? Sarah, what's happening?"

"No wonder why he's still here. No wonder why you get hurt," she said to herself.

"SARAH. Honey, what's happening?" I asked, I was getting so worried every second we were in here.

"One has to suffer. One has to go. And its either you or Maverick."

What. The actual. Hell.

"What?"

"I never thought that this was possible. I never thought that this would happen." She rambled as the tears continued to fall.

"Then go for him." I told her softly

"Jimmy, No. Im not leaving without you."

"Sarah, he has a son. He has to see him grow up. He has to help Jacen grow up." I told her. She tackled me with a hug.

"Im not letting you go." She whispered as I felt the tears stinging my eyes.

"You were the best thing that ever came in my life, I can never leave you. ever."

I hugged her even tighter and hid my face in the crook of her neck and let everything out.

"Jimmy... I-I don't know what to do."

I pulled back and cupped her face, 'We can do this." I told her before placing a soft kiss on her lips.

"What do you mean?" She asked.

"We got this. Do it as fast as you can. I can hold it."

"ARE YOU SERIOUS?! YOU THINK I CAN WATCH YOU GET HURT!?" She exclaimed.

"Sarah, We got this, remember?"

She looked at me for a few moments before finally nodding.

"Jimmy-"
