Chapter 31

Jimmy:

Well, I guess there's a new addition to the club. I walked in the living room to see Kim asleep on the couch with Sarah beside her.

I smiled and grabbed Sarah's coat that was on the floor and draped it over them. I bent over and kissed Sarah's forehead. I turned to look at Kimberly and eyed the bruises all over her arms.

"Dad... Don't." She muttered as she switched position.

My heart ached for her. It really did. If only I could've stopped that man from hurting her.

I let out a sigh before placing a soft kiss on her head. I walked to the kitchen to see Maverick looking out the window.

"What's up?" I asked.

He turned around and looked at me.

"Nothing."

"You sure?" I asked again, this time raising a brow.

He nodded and took a seat on the table.

"So, you guys are getting married huh." He smiled.

I nodded and smiled back.

"I remember when you and Sarah were still in high school. You had the coolest hair." He chuckled.

"Yea, I know, I know." I said dismissively as I felt my cheeks flush.

Maverick laughed.

"But I also remember that you were so in love with each other. Among all the guys she dated, you were the perfect one."

I looked at Maverick and flashed him a smile.

"I've always known she was the one."

"I know. Jimmy, the moment I officially met you months back, I knew that I could die happily cause I know that Sarah is in good hands. I know that you will do everything to protect her cause I can read your mind. Jimmy, I can read it." He said and I could feel the tears stinging my eyes. And here comes my Irish-ness.

"Jimmy, she trusts you with all her heart. She loves you with all her heart. And when you marry her, I know that you can love her right. I know YOU WILL love her right. I know that Sarah may be hard-headed at times, I know she has her own ways, I know she fights like a man, I know she's sassy at times, She's Sarah, and I don't want you to give up on her, ever... But Im sure you'll not. Jim, she's like my own daughter, I raised her. Her biological may be not here, but I give you the blessing. " He added as I could see the tears welling up in his eyes.

I let out a shaky breath as the tears came crashing down.

"Thank you." I smiled.

"But Jimmy, can you do me a favor." He said, his voice breaking.

"Anything."

"Take Jacen with you guys. Please. I don't want to entrust him to anyone else but you guys. I need to know he's safe, I need to make sure he's in good hands." He said, and right there and then, Maverick Storm had officially broken down.

Where was he going with this?

"Maverick, We'd love too, but why?"

"Jimmy, Im going to die here."

"What?"

"What's about to happen, it all came to me in my dreams, my memory. I die here.." He repeated.

"Why didn't you tell us?!" I exclaimed softly.

"I didn't want you guys to worry. I didn't want you guys to stop cause I know you guys will. We've come this far, Jimmy. Its too late."
