Chapter 4

No One's P.O.V.

Mary and Jake were both shocked but their reactions differed. Jake was super excited and wanted to start right away. He barely took time to know all of the details and how his power worked. Mary on the other hand wanted to know every detail and what she was getting herself into.

Mary and Jake found out they got their powers from a magical creature called a Kodi. (I got this name by typing in the letter k in google and it came up with this. Apparently it is a website or brand thing. Anyway on with the story!) Mary's kodi was named Anthea. (I got this name by looking up unusual names for girls.) Jake's kodi was named Jago. (I got this the same way as I got Anthea from but I looked up unusual names for boys.) Anthea was kind, caring, courageous, and gave great advice. Jago, however, was lazy, ate a lot, didn't give the best advice, and was basically the opposite of Anthea.

The magic the kodis gave them had restrictions and limits. They always had their power even without being transformed, but when they weren't transformed it was slightly weakened. Jake was not able to see where the person got hurt or what exactly happened to the when he wasn't transformed. Mary could read, but not control minds when she wasn't transformed.

When Mary extended her arm in the right way a magical string came out that let her swing from place to place. Jake was able to jump high in far since he didn't have a magic string to come out of his ring. Mary and Jake were told never to reveal their identities to anyone because that could allow the villains or who ever they were facing to threaten the people they loved. Not even their parents could know. This was the one thing that troubled Mary.

Mary's P.O.V.

"What do you mean I cant tell anyone?" I asked Anthea confused.

"You just can't. If the villains knew they could threaten the lives of the people you love." Anthea responded.

"Why would I tell the villains who I was?" I was overly confused.

"It is not that you would tell the villains themselves. Ugh. Let us say that you were to tell your friend Emily. What if someone were to over hear you? That person would tell someone who would tell another someone who would tell another someone and so on. It would keep spreading and soon everyone would know. Do you understand now?" That made more sense.

"Yeah I understand. How about I only tell my parents?" I really needed to tell them. Get their feed back. Make sure they know where I am and why I go off to places and may come home hurt or late. I hated lying to them.

"You can't. I know I'm sorry but it is the rules. The only way for someone to know your identity is if they find out themselves without your help."

"It is okay An (If you didn't realize like my mom, An is Anthea's nickname Mary gave her). I understand. It would put them in less danger and worry." I understood An I really did but I also really wanted to tell my parents. "So is there any other restrictions I should know about or rules at that?" I knew there had to be something else. It was written all over her face. I didn't need my power to know that, but I kinda wanted to read her mind and figure out but I restrained. I didn't want to take my power for granted.

"Well, there isn't another rule. We went through all those, but there is something you need to know."

Jake's P.O.V.

"I have a partner?!" I was shocked. Well, I already was, but that just added to my shock. I had a partner. A freaking partner. Someone else had magic like me!

"Yes. Her name is Oracle." Jago said nonchalantly like it meant nothing. Oracle! This was awesome! I was becoming a superhero and would be meeting another one as well.

"Awesome! Have you met her yet? Do you know who she is?" I was eager to know who my partner was gonna be.

"No to both of your answers. I haven't met her but I know her kogi and I know we were both sent to find someone to hold out power. Also even if I did know who she was I wouldn't tell you. zit is forbidden. You aren't allowed to reveal your identity to anyone so not villain can find out and threaten people you love. That means you also aren't allowed to know Oracle's." He said.

"Wait so I can't tell my friends or my family? But they will think it is awesome." I wanted to tell them. Especially Mary. Maybe she might actually find interest in me then.

"Correct. The only way for someone to know your identity is if they find out on their own. Trust me. Soon I will end up knowing who your partner is. I always find out in case I need to find them if you are hurt and need help that only a superhero can do. And I wont tell you. Just so you know pretty boy."

"Ugh! But have people found out the other Augur's identity?" I was definitely getting this answer. Of it was yes then I might find out who my partner is and there might even be hope that Mary finds out.

"Yes. But only Oracle ever knew Augur's partner. No one else found it out." Darn it!! Mary might never find out. So much for impressing her. "But who knows. The only reasons the partners found out was because they fell in love and wanted to be together but they had to know each other's identity so they wouldn't live a lie with each other. If you get together with a normal citizen that person will have to find out." Yes! There was still hope. Little hope but still hope.

"Sweet! So when do we start rescuing?"

I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter. I put those few author notes just because I didn't own the names of anything and I wanted to clear any confusion you might have. I am really enjoying writing this story a lot more than any stories I have ever written. Ba Bye!!
