Chapter 18

Mia's P.O.V.

I was at home and getting ready for bed. The dance ended and I left with a giddy feeling in my chest. I was so excited I decided I would help with patrol with Augur. We switched off and tonight was his night so I didn't have to go but I wanted to see him again. We rarely talked and only while fighting someone.
"Anthea you ready?"
"Yes!" I quickly transformed and used my rope to swing to a roof top that I knew Augur went to.
"Hey Augur." I said. I startled him and he jumped and screamed slightly.
"Holy crap Or! Never do that to me."
"Haha Haha! Your face!" I laughed.
"Hardy har har. Very funny. Now why are you here? It is my turn to patrol."
"Can't I just talk to my partner for once that doesn't include strategy in how to take down a robber?"
"I guess so. What about?"
"Don't care."
"Do you ever want to reveal our identities?"
"Sort of. But I don't think we should. We have hardly started this job thing and we don't know each other that well."
"I know. It's just... I think we would be able to work better together if we knew each other's identity."
Maybe one day." I was about to say more when I heard a crash. "Crap. Come on."I jumped to the next roof following the sound. I stopped when I saw a robber running away with a bag across his shoulders. But he wasn't alone. There was another guy too.
I hopped down right in front of him. "I'd think twice about running away with that money." I said walking towards him.
"I don't know if you realized this but I have another guy here. So it looks like we have 2 and you are all alone."
"I think I can count." Just then Augur jumped down and walked beside me. "Now if I were you I'd listen to what I said earlier." They looked scared so they ran the other way. I followed them and flung my rope around the leader's ankle cause him to fall. He dropped his bag and un-did the rope. He then punched me scare in the jaw.
"Oracle!"
"I'm fine. Get the other guy." I punched the robber in the stomach then kicked him in the same place. We were by a store window and the guy pushed me at it and I fell through landing on the broken window pieces. The glass shards cut into my back but I didn't feel it at first since I was pumping on adrenaline. I got up and tackled him to the ground. He grabbed his gun and fired it. I dodged several bullets before one hit me in the shoulder dead on. I grabbed his arm and twisted it before he fell. I punched him and then kicked him so he passed out. Just then Augur came back with the other man unconscious too.
"Good work."
"Thanks." All of a sudden a rush of pain came through my shoulder and back and I cried out falling on my knees.
"Oracle! What happened?"
"Glass in the back. Bullet in the shoulder." I managed weakly. He then looked at my shoulder and back then cursed. He picked me up bridal style and brought me to where he took me the last time I got hurt.
"Sir Cheng?" Augur asked. Then Cheng came out and gasped at the sight. Augur holding me in his arms blood covering my back and shoulder.
"What happened this time?"
"Fell in a window and got shot. Not fun." I answered.
"Set her down." Augur did as he was told and he gave started his magic.

Time Skip

"Al right your all good. Try sit sit up." I sat up and there was slight pain in my shoulder and my back.
"Hurts but much better. Thank you. Augur did you get hurt?"
"Nope! I'm fine. But you have to stop getting hurt."
"It's part of the job description. But I don't care. As long as we have Cheng here, I'll be fine."
"No Oracle. What if the gun had hit your chest? You'll only be fine if you don't die. If you die Cheng can't heal you."
"Fine I'll be more careful. Just don't hold your breath for too long." And with that I left unable to use my hurt arm.

Time Skip

My alarm went off and when I sat up I cringed. My arm still hurt horribly. How was I supposed to hide this? I got up and made my bed ignoring the pain. Then I went to my closet to find a good outfit.
My Outfit:

After getting dressed I brushed my hair but didn't put it up. Wearing my hair down felt weird but cool all the same. I then went downstairs to eat a quick breakfast then back up to brush my teeth. Finally I grabbed my bag and left for school.
I pulled up in a parking spot and got out of my car. My shoulder was throbbing so I applied some pressure and it helped some but not much. I walked up to the school and as I was walking I was pushed to ground.
"Haha! Mary can't even catch herself. Oh look she's crying. Pathetic!" Stephanie yelled.
"Not crying." I said through gritted teeth. I had landed on my bad shoulder and it hurt. I got up and held my shoulder. Stephanie made a 'hmph!' Sound and walked away.
"You good girl?" Emily asked walking towards me.
"Fine." I massaged my shoulder and held it. This was gonna be a long day.

Aaron's P.O.V.

I saw Stephanie push Mary to the ground and laugh at her. I went to check on Mary but she had Emily and was already standing. I saw how before Mary was pushed she had been holding her shoulder in an odd way as if she hurt it. The weird thing was that it was the same shoulder Oracle hurt. Come to think of it Mary had expressed she felt pain in her side the day after Oracle got cut in her side. I narrowed my eyes at my girlfriend. She kept applying pressure to soothe the pain. I went up to them.
"Hey Emily. Mary." I kissed her cheek.
"Hey Jake." I stood behind her and put my hand on her shoulder. She slightly winced.
"You ok Mar-bear?" I ask.
"Yeah just hurt my shoulder last night."
"I thought it was because Stephanie pushed you." Emily said.
"That made it hurt more."
"Can I talk to you Mary?" I asked her.
"Sure." She followed me to the side of the school.
"How did you hurt yourself?"
"Fell?" It came out as a question.
"Mary. You aren't a klutz."
"I'm fine."
"Mary I happen to know a certain person and she was shot in the shoulder yesterday. I took her somewhere to help her get healed but the pain was still there. She had to hide it so no one would know. However I don't know her real identity nor does she know mine." She started making a panicked face.
"What's her name?" She asked.
"She goes by Oracle. Like the famous superhero." She started looking more panicked and looked around her.
"Ok. What are you saying?" She asked.
"I'm saying I think you're Oracle. She was cut in her side and the next day you had apparently hurt your side. And then she was shot in the shoulder and today your hurt on the same shoulder." She looked around again.
"Ok fine. I'm Oracle. But don't tell anyone! No one can know."
"I wouldn't dare Ora." I stated. Her eyes widened.
"But only Augur calls...me..that..." Her voice drifted. "Jake are you Augur?"
"Shit. You weren't supposed to find out." She laughed. "But yeah. I am."
"Huh. To think my boyfriend is also my partner. Does this change anything?"
"Yes. It makes me love you even more." I lifted her by the waist twirling her around.
"Jake put my down or I will slap you!" She warned. I laughed and set her down.
"You know what? I think my life got a thousand percent better." I grabbed my girlfriend's hand and we ran into school looking like freaks. But I didn't care. I had my girlfriend by my side who also happened to be my partner. Nothing could get better than this. Nothing at all.

Ok that is the end of Oracle. I hope you enjoyed this story! I know the ending wasn't so great and I wanted to make it better and add other cool stuff. But who knows?
