Chapter 10

Mary's P.O.V.

Last night was rough. I told my mom and Jack that I was going to the amusement park and Jack blew up. He thought I shouldn't go and I yelled at him. My mom had to leave the room. It broke my heart but I had to continue. I couldn't let him decide if I was going to go to a amusement park or not. No way. The fight lasted for 2 hours and I eventually won. During it I saw Jack raise his hand 5 times as if he wanted to slap me but thought better of it. Honestly I surprised he wasn't dumb enough to do that. I really wished my mom would see how bad he really was. But that would never happen. She was head over heels for him.

As my alarm went off I slid out of bed. I really didn't want to get up but I had to wake up early so I could take Sofia to her soccer game. Then I would drop her off and go to the amusement park. I went to my closet to pick out my clothes and selected a pair of black leggings, a light blue, long sleeved, sweater-like crop top. To go along with the outfit I grabbed a pair of black ankle boots that I had recently gotten. I quickly entered the bathroom and got in the shower. After my shower I got dressed and did my hair in a long Dutch braid. I put on a light blue colored bow and makeup. I then chose my black purse and went to wake up Sofia.

"Ok go ahead I am going to park and I walk up to meet you." I said pushing Sofia out of the car.

"Ok. See you soon." My sister said getting out of the car and shutting the door. I drove over to the parking area and got out grabbing my things. I then heard my phone buzz as I was walking toward the field.

"Hey Em. What's up?" I asked her.

"I was making sure you were coming to the amusement park with us today."

"Yes I am coming. Anything else or did you just not have trust in me?"

"No it is just that you didn't answer my calls nor texts and I was wondering if you were really that upset about me taking your stuff."

"Oh Emily! No I am not mad, it's just. Jack and I had an....argument. It got bad and continued for 2 hours. During it I could tell he was contemplating on whether he should hit me or not. Oh and I ran into Stephanie on my way to my locker. I did not stand up to her though because no one else was there."

"What?! Oh Mary I am so sorry! I cant believe Jack did that. Why were you arguing?" She seemed mad.

"He didn't want me to go to the amusement park so I snapped and yelled at him. That lit his fuse and we yelled at each other. I almost said he was not even a real dad. But I refrained."

"I am really sorry girl. Ok well I got to go. See you at the amusement park."

"Bye girl." I hung up and saw Sofia. She was waving and then the game began.

Jake's P.O.V.

I quickly jogged up to my friends seeing them all waiting for me.

"Hey guys. Sorry I'm late. I had stuff to do."

"Yeah yeah we don't need to know why you were late we just wanna go in. Come on." Emily said and she walked in with Alex on her tail. I noticed Mary seemed a little out of it, but in a sad way.

"Hey are you okay Mary? You seem down." I asked her. I was worried. Normally she was cheery yet shy but now she was just looking all depressed.

"Yeah just had a um.. argument with my father." Again she said father in an odd way that struck out to Jake. He was even more tempted to ask her about it but didn't.
