Author's P.O.V.
Mary was walking towards her locker when she was stopped by a particularly annoying bratty girl. 'Seriously? I was already tripped by this girl. Now what does she want?'
"What were you talking about with Jake?" Stephanie asked in her high pitched voice.
"Nothing." Mary mumbled. Even though Emily told her to stand up for herself Mary wasn't ready for it.
"Sorry, but I don't think I heard you. Could you speak up?" 'Ugh this girl is getting on my nerves' Mary thought.
"I said nothing Stephanie. Now can I help you?" Mary said louder.
"No I don't need anything from you besides you have an ugly face and anything you do is probably going to turn out horrible."
"Ok then I will be on my way." Mary started walking away towards her locker to grab her things. Mary was NOT happy. First she is tripped by Stephanie, then she gets a note from her step father saying she has to come home early, Emily took her things, and Stephanie was being a bitch again. On top of all that her step father probably called her home just to yell at her. He only always yelled and disciplined her. He continued to think she was a child by telling her she couldn't stay up late but then he would tell her to make dinner for the family and say she was growing up and was a young adult. It was very annoying for Mary, but she could never complain to her mom. 3 years ago her mother and father divorced. Apparently her father had been cheating on her mother and after that things were never the same. Her mom was cold and distant until she met Jack, her step father. She completely changed. Her mother was more kind, happy, and free spirited than she ever had been. The thought of telling her mother that she hated Jack would have killed her mother. Mary could not let them happen, especially with everything her mom had gone through.
So what did Mary do? She argued with Jack when her mom wasn't around but did everything her asked. She pretended that Jack did all the house work when really Mary did it all. However she never kept her thought away from her siblings. Mary had 3 younger siblings. The twins were 5 years old and named Miles and Chase. Then she had a 10 year old sister named Sofia. They always hung out with Mary and always did what she did. Her mother was always proud of Mary for being a great role model for her siblings. Along with all that they knew what Jack did and understood how Mary felt which made them feel the same. Mary lived them with all the cells in her body and nothing would change that.
Anyways Mary was grabbing her things when Aaron came up to her.
"Hey Mary. Why are you packing up?" Aaron was a sweet boy and really good at art. Whenever Mary saw him he was always drawing people or a scene. He drew pictures of everyone including herself which surprised Mary. They weren't technically friends but they still talked sometimes.
"I have to head home early." Mary responded.
"Oh. Why are you mad?" Aaron asked her with worry in his expression.
"Well this morning Stephanie tripped me and the at lunch my things were taken as a joke but still I wanted my stuff and now Stephanie just came up to me and was very rude."
"Oh. Sorry. That girl gets on my nerves. Why can't she be nice for once?" Aaron now looked annoyed which made Mary want to chuckle but she held it in.
"Yeah she gets on everyone's nerves so you aren't alone. Well I should be leaving. I have to hurry. See you. Bye." Mary called out and she left.

Mary's P.O.V.
I got home and reluctantly opened the door. There my step dad stood there with an angry expression.
"Where have you been? I told you to come home early and you come home 30 minutes late! What were you doing?!" Here we go again.
"Technically 10 minutes late. In case you didn't know I have friends and a life so I may not always be on time just to be your maid." I sassed back at him. I was right on everything I said so I didn't care what he had to say.
"That is still unacceptable! You have to follow the rules not matter what!"
"I am 17! I am not a child! And you are n-" I shut my mouth. I couldn't go there.
"I am what?" He lowered his voice to a stern like growl.
"Nothing just what do you want me to do?" I couldn't say it no matter how much I felt it. It may have made me feel better but wouldn't work out in the long run.
"We will talk later but I need you to pick up the kids. Then get the groceries. I have a list for you to grab. Here." He handed me the list and I took it.
See you then bye." I walked out and went to my car. I had gotten it for my birthday and I loved it. Jack thought it was unnecessary but mom pulled through and got it. I was infinitely great full. I started driving toward my siblings school.
-----------------------Time skip to the kids school because I am lazy :)---------
I pulled up where the car riders go and saw my siblings.
"Sofia, Miles, Chase get over here!" I yelled smiling. They were always the highlight of my day.
"Mawy!" Miles shouted running towards me. He was adorable.
"Hey kiddo. How was school."
"It was gweat." He smiled his toothy smile.
"Awesome. Chase, Sofia hurry it up."
"Sorry sis. Big Friday crowd." Sofia said. "Thanks for picking us up and not Jack."
"He told me to. Made me leave early to pick you up and then go get groceries."
"Hahaha. That is funny."
"Well you are coming along." I said smirking.
"Darn it!" She stomped her foot in frustration.
"Anyways, hey Chase wassup?" I asked him.
"School was awesome! We wearned about adding numbers. It was weally cool." (Just so you know I am making these speech mistakes for Miles and Chase. I am not messing up I am just making them sound like my little brother when he was 5)
"That is great Chase! Ok lets go get groceries." We all got in the car and headed over to the grocery store.
