Chapter 4 - I DO
The silence is torturing and every ticking second adds another dagger to my heart as I close my eyes to listen closer.
I open my eyes to see Tasi looking down the back of the church, I just couldn't help myself, I have to turn.
As I turn my head I notice a fair skinned female wearing a white off shoulder dress with blue imprinted flowers stopping just below her knees. The dress hugs her skinny but curvy body and her long black hair in curls that sprawl forward bringing out her big brown eyes.
I take a second look at the unknown female and I can't believe my eyes. That is Tasi's ex-girlfriend Losa that was sending me threats through texts and then having the nerve to come down to work. I look at Tasi and his eyes are blood shot red, the veins in his neck are slowly showing which indicates he is pissed off. I've never seen him mad before. He looks like he could walk to the back and slap the bitch but he doesn't.
I take one more look to warn her she better not try anything but she sends me an evil smile and sits down in the very last row of seats as she flips her hair to the back. I swear if this wasnt my wedding I will walk back there and drag her ass out of this church and beat the shit out of her myself. She has made my life a living hell since I got with Tasi and I dont think I can take anymore of it.
If she interrupts then that will be it for me, she can have him. I'm pretty sure Tasi's family will be happy that he will be with a Samoan girl.
The Minister coughs and I'm brought back to reality, our wedding! Nothing else is heard from the crowd and the minister continues ...
"who gives this woman to be married to this man?
I let out a breath I had no idea I was holding in, a sigh of relief and I mentally pick up my heart and place it back in my chest. Sniffles are heard amongst the crowd when my father lets go of my arm and turns to face Tasi.
"I will" my father says slowly in a low but sad tone as he nods towards the Minister.
"Tasi today I am letting go of my heart, my princess and my oldest child to you. I am sad to let her go but I am happy to fulfil Gods will for a man and woman to be united as one" I turn to look at my father with tears filling his eyes. I cant help but join him in crying, weeping almost.
"Tasi please love, cherish and take good care of my princess as me and my wife have done so. From the day Ofa was born, me and my wife have never laid a finger on her so I ask of you to do the same. If there is a day where your feelings change or you find love elsewhere I expect for you to return my daughter back into arms like I am handing her to you today. May your marriage be full of happiness and remember put God first in everything you do" my father wipes his eyes and turns to me.
My vail is pulled up and my father kisses me on the cheek before putting my vail back down and taking my hand in his hand and placing it in Tasi's hand. Tasi shakes my father's hand before leading me before the minister. Tasi and I turn to face eachother and he takes both my hands in his.
The minister speaks again "I require and charge you both here in the presence of God, that if both of you know any reason why you may not be united in marriage lawfully, and in accordance with God's word, you must confess now" I look into Tasi's eyes to double check that he doesn't want to back out. I can't help but smile and watch him lick his lips and I know he just wants to kiss me as much as I wanna kiss him but it wont be happening anytime soon. I smile at him and look deep into his light brown eyes.
"The union that has been joined today let no man come between this sacred union..." The Minister says as I see Tasi pulling faces making me forget what is going on around us. We both giggle as he mouths I love you to me and I return the same words.
