Chapter 24
*5 days later*
On Monday I calIed in sick, and then I ended up staying sick all week because of my bruise. I already had heaps of shit go down at work before we married and I’m not about to give them a reason to gossip. I will waited til the bruise had fully disappeared before I would be back to work.
I haven’t seen or heard from Tasi in 5 days, 5 days! On the first two days it was so hard, I really missed him. Crying myself to sleep or wake up in the night and just cry. On the third day I knew he wasn’t gonna come so I got up and cleaned up around the house. Had my mother calling me every 5 minutes to make sure I was not cleaning up anything with my growing belly. She even threaten to beat me if she ever found out. I love my mother for being so supportive.
I got asked almost every night why I was here and not where my husband is and all I could think to say was I needed my mummy during my pregnancy and no doubt about it mum was so happy. And then the questions of why Tasi doesn’t come around I usually lie and just say he comes over during the day when they’re at work and they seem to buy that story.
Its Friday so I know Tasi usually has this day off some times unless work is very busy.
I decide to get up out of bed and maybe go out shopping for some bigger clothes. This baby has changed my body in ways I never thought was possible.
My boobs feel bigger, my hips are wider not letting me fit into any of my pants so I just stick to my sun dresses along with some of my mums she rarely uses, my belly growing bigger and bigger by the day and I’m feeling more and more lazy.
As I walk out the front door I’m stunned when I turn around to see Tasi standing a few feet away from the door. He looks like a train hit him with his hair all over the place, his eyes are blood shot red with bags underneath them like he hadn’t slept for days and he still wearing the same clothes from the morning he left me in after his episode.
My body, mind and soul has frozen at the sight in front of me until I recollect myself and pick up my heart had fallen to the pit of my stomach. I rush back into the house slamming the door behind me and turning the lock to make sure Tasi cannot come in.
After locking the door I turn my body leaning on the door with tears already falling like a tap. Who does he think he is to just show up like this? No, No he is not going to get off lightly this time.
Moments later I hear a knock at the door behind me “Babe … I … Im … sorry” Tasi stutters with his words. “baby please forgive me”
“Go away Tasi”
“please baby let me in, I’m so so sorry” Tasi voice comes through the door.
“stop lying, you’re not sorry. Just go please” I cry out
“Ofa, I Love you” Tasi says piercing my heart at his words.
I love this man, I really do. But I don’t know what I should do. I don’t want to get back with him to have him hit me again. But I certainly don’t want my parents or family to know whats going on. I listen carefully and its all silent. I don’t hear his sniffles or cries behind the door.
I slowly get up off the floor and I open the door. My heart jumps when I open the door to see Tasi lying in a foetal position.
I fall to my feet grabbing Tasi into my arms. “Tasi please, please wake up” I say while pulling his upper body into my lap and kissing his face.
I examine his face and he surely looks beat up. I notice he is actually asleep which gives me great relief.
I try my best to wake him up but it seems like he really hasn’t slept and just gave and thought to lie down and have a sleep on my parents doorstep.
