“You’re actually gonna go,” Soniya asked when Khushi got home.

“Yeah….”

“Well…that’s good, right?”

“I don’t know.”

“Of course it’s good! Now Arshi will meet her aunts, uncles, grandaunt, granduncle, great-grandma, and most important, her Da-da!”

“What did you just say,” Khushi asked, as she placed Arshi down.

“Da-da,” she said in a baby voice.

Da-da?”

“Yeah, Da-da.”

“Who in the world-“

“I mean Arnav. He’s Arshi’s Da-da.”

“Da-da?”

“Haan, Da-da.”

“It’s silly.”

“Hey! I used to call my dad Da-da okay? Plus I think it’s cute.”

“You think Da-da is cute? Babuji is way better.”

“But it’s too long for a little girl to say. Right Arshi?"

Arshi just looked at her with googly eyes and smiled.

"See? Even she agrees that Da-da is cute. Imagine Arshi calling him that. She'd be like Da-da! Da-da!"

"Da-da?"

"Da-da!"

"Okay, seriously, next person that says Da-da is getting hurt."

“But you just said Da-da.”

“I said Da-da because I don’t want anyone else to say Da-da.”

“You just said Da-da twice.”

Khushi shut her eyes and let out a  sigh. “Don’t. Say. Da-da. Got it?”

Soniya shook her head and the two ended it right there. Instead they decided they’d start on work, while Arshi watched the two, her head tilted in wonder.

"D... d... mmm... d...."

Thankfully Khushi was busy with work and wasn't listening to jer daughter's mutterings, or who knows how she'd react to her daughter's attempts?
