He stood outside of the big metal fence, the couple had an actual gate that you had to buzz in before you actually even entered the property. Dan's mind fluttered with curiosity, all he had was a name; Lester. And he didn't recognize it, so how was this family so rich? Were they famous, or just living off family riches? Dan's stomach turned as he thought about working for a famous family, would his name get out?
He was only the babysitter, he still had yet to meet the kid but he knew that he was 5 and his name was Anthony. Anthony Lester. Who is your dad, Anthony Lester?
Daniel walked up to the gate and pressed his finger into the silver button. A ring sounded out before it stopped and a husky voice went, "Hello?"
"Uh, hi, I'm Dan- the babysitter," He cursed himself for sounding so stupid, of course they knew he was the babysitter, they hired him.
"Yes, of course. Come right up." Then silence. Then the gate opened and he was able to get a look at their yard, it was big and green. Very green. He almost thought it was artificial until he noticed the rose garden in the corner. The big mahogany doors opened and there stood a slim man, his hair was pushed back in a quiff, Daniel was finally able to put a name to the face: Mr. Lester.
"Daniel, so nice to meet you." He extended his hand once the boy was in reach. Daniel felt underdressed next to the older man, while he was in jeans and a white-T, Mr. Lester was in a full tux, a tie hanging from his neck.
"Just, Dan, please. I'm not that formal," He smiled, shaking Mr. Lester's hand. The older man laughed at his comment, stepping aside and letting Dan inside.
"Right, I forget not everyone is as dressed up as I am on a Saturday." His smile was bright and his teeth were straight and shiny. He shut the door behind the pair and motioned for Daniel to follow. "Down here is the living room, then past that is the kitchen," He explained as he walked Dan through the house, pointing out every room. They went up a flight of stairs, Mr. Lester still pointing out the rooms. They stopped at the second door in the hallway, "This is my office, you are under no circumstances to go inside." His voice went from soft and friendly to deep and serious in a matter of three doors. Dan nodded quickly.
"Of course." Then Mr. Lester nodded and escorted him to the last door on the opposite end of the upstairs.
"This is Ants, room."
"Ant?"
"Anthony, we call him Ant for short." The man explained, warning a nod from the brunet. Mr. Lester opened the door, a little brown haired boy shot his head up, smiling big and wide as he jumped to his toes.
"Daddy!" He was missing his front teeth, pink gums flashing. He threw his arms in the air, a signal for the older man to pick him up.
"Hey bubba," Mr. Lester smiled, scooping up the younger boy in his arms and balancing him on his hip. "This is Dan, your new babysitter."
"Hi, Dan." He smiled, his chubby little fingers spread wide in the air for Dan to high-five. Their hands collided softly, Dan smiling at the act.
"Hi, Anthony." The younger boy greeted back.
"Okay, well I have to go," Mr. Lester said as he checked his watch, setting his son down, the boy returning to his arms soldiers and blocks. "Ant usually eats at 4:30 and is in bed by 6:45, I should be back around 8 or 9. My wife, Haillie, comes and goes. She's kind of mean so just ignore her," He whispered the last part. "Okay, that's all. Bye, Ant,"
"Bye daddy!" The boy called back.
"Goodbye, Dan."
"Bye, Mr. Lester."
"Oh, please. Just Phil." He smiled before turning and heading to leave. Dan smiled before he sinned down to his knees, picking up a toy solider and asking Ant what his name was.
"His name is Dan, now."
