The house was so quiet. Quieter than usual because Ant was away and Haillie was no longer living in the house. She was gone at her mother's, probably wearing those baby blue dresses and going to bars at 9 pm. She was just a girl, she needed to be young. Not be a mother.

Daniel stood at the end of Phil's bed. Phil's real bed, the one he slept in, probably cried in, watched TV in, drolled in. Fucked Haillie in. Daniel shook his head, hoping all of those thoughts would just fall out of his ears, he kept forgetting that Phil said he loved him, he wanted him around. He wasn't just some kid to Phil, he was something else. Something... special. As far as Daniel knew.

Behind him was a big flat-screen TV, with a small shelf under it for movies. Hung on the walls were pictures of him and Ant, the woman who used to live in the house had been cut out. Phil was fast to remove all photos of his ex-wife, Dan hoped it was for his sake and not Daniel's, losing a loved one was difficult and he didn't want to rush Phil's "grieving" process at all.

As if he was summoned, Phil walked into the room, two hands filled with glasses of wine. The dark liquid splashed in the cup but Phil was careful not to drip it onto the carpet. Daniel had never had wine before.

"Hey," Phil smiled, he was so happy now. His smile seemed to reach different level's than it had before.

"Hi," Dan said back, his smile was weak on his face and he knew it.

"What's wrong?" Phil asked as he made his way over to his bedside table, setting down the two glasses. There was a space on the desk where the dust hadn't touched, the ghost of a photo frame. Daniel wondered who used to lay there.

The older man wore sweatpants with a yellow t-shirt. He sat on the side of the bed, reaching out to take Daniel's hand and pull him down as well. The brunet fell onto his back, arms sprawled at his head.

"I dunno, I feel so out of place. Like... You don't want me here, and I'm just wasting your time or something." He rolled his head to look over at Phil.

"Honey, if I didn't want you here, I would tell you. I want you here so bad, you mean so much to me, it's insane actually." Phil chuckled, propping himself on his elbow, his arm tracing little circles on his lover's pale arm. "When I first saw you, I didn't know how someone could be so perfect? You looked so good and you seemed to fit in with Ant as if you had already met him. I honestly fell in love with you so fast. I guess that's just what happens when someone doesn't love you anymore, you start to look elsewhere... and I found you."

"PJ always told me I had boy ADHD and I didn't think I would find anybody," Dan said, raising his hand to Phil's cheek with his hand. "I think you are made of light and I feel like people misuse that light a lot. I feel like people forgot about you and you were left in the background. But you're so much more than that, you're not the background, or the middle ground, or the front ground, you're the whole damn picture. And I'm quite in love with you, Philip Micheal Lester."

"I'm in love with you too." Phil brought his face down, connecting their lips. Dan's hands fell to his neck, pulling his body on top of his own. Their legs slotted together nicely, Dan threaded his hands through Phil's hair.

They pulled away for air minutes later, Phil smiling like an idiot.

"What?" Daniel asked.

"I just kissed Daniel Howell," he chuckled, rubbing his nose against the brunets.

"Shut up and kiss me again," Dan fisted his shirt collar, pulling him back down.
