"Are you gonna go?" PJ asked once Dan dropped his phone to his side. Peej was sitting on his bed, per usual, Dan rarely ever saw him out of it nowadays. The brunet sighed, still staring up at the ceiling and following the cracks across the room, Phil wanted him to testify against Haillie in court for custody of Ant. They hadn't divorced yet, not legally. Phil and Haillie signed the papers (after more yelling and crying on Haillie's part) before he turned them in. Phil's lawyer said they could do the custody papers along with the divorce, just to get it all over with quickly.
"I think so," Dan said.
"You don't have to, you know?"
"I know. I just want to. You should see the way Ant talks about his mom, he hates her. And knowing the system the mother would always get the child, even if she is unfit."
"He can handle it on his own, he's a lawyer. And you said she doesn't have a job? There's no way she's gonna make it. You don't have to get involved in this." PJ tried to reason.
"I want to, Peej," Dan said more sternly, sitting up and pulling his phone onto his lap to make it look like he was doing something so he could end the conversation they were currently having.
"Alright." The older boy gave up, looking back down at his book he had been reading. Wuthering Heights, Dan recognized- PJ had read it nearly fifteen times. Such a sad book to read over and over, Dan still didn't know why he did.

Phil picked up Dan 3 weeks later in his shiny black car. His hair was pulled into a perfect quiff and his glasses were new, Dan could smell his expensive cologne from the passenger seat. He wore a tux, but not like the ones he wore to work every day. This one was perfectly tailored and the cuffs were just hemmed and there was not one speck of dust on him. His wedding ring was gone and there was a strip of whiter skin in its wake.
Dan didn't look as good as him, he only wore a white dress shirt and a pair of black dress pants and he actually fixed his hair for once.
They hadn't seen each other in that span of 3 weeks and once Dan laid eyes on Phil he could feel his whole body pulling himself towards the older man like an invisible cord. Students watched as Dan came out of his dorm room and hugged the handsome man, a couple of girls flocked behind them as they had been out running. Something different bloomed in Dan's chest as he climbed into the seat beside Phil's, he held his head higher.
"God, I missed you so much," Phil had mumbled as he squeezed Daniel tightly, strong arms hardening around his waist and pulling him closer, almost off his feet.
"I missed you too. Still love me?" Dan chuckled once they had pulled away.
"God, yes."
Now they were driving down the road, to the courthouse. The papers had gotten sorted out rather quickly and today was the day that Dan was going to testify against Haillie for being an unfit mother. He was nervous, his leg bouncing up and down.
"Take a deep breath, you're gonna be alright." Phil smiled, placing his hand on Dan's knee, the action stopping.
"I'm just scared. I don't do well under pressure."
"If they ask you questions about our relationship, try to give as little as possible. Just say I hired you as a babysitter and you witnessed most of Haillie and our's arguments."
"What if she brings up the affair?"
"She had an affair too."
"With who?"
