A big storm had come in, so hard that the kids who didn't live on campus couldn't drive through it so they canceled classes that day. PJ had slid into Dan's bed like he usually did, his feet cold as they were pressed against Dan's leg. The burnet had mumbled something incoherent and PJ just smiled, wrapping his arm around his friend's waist and pulling his body closer.

They slept for a while longer, but when Daniel woke up PJ was gone. He frowned when he sat up, looking over at Peej's bed and finding it empty. He could have sworn the boy had been with him hours ago. He peeled himself from the covers of his bed, walking over to register and turning it on, hot air pumping out minutes later. He slipped into the bathroom and did his business, right when he closed the toilet seat he heard the front door opened. Padding out into the living room, he found his friend kicking off his clothes with two coffee's in hand, snow coated his beanie and caught on the few strands of hair that dripped out of the confines. PJ smiled when he noticed Dan, extending an arm that held his cup, his name scrawled over it in messy handwriting from the barista.

"Coffee?"

"God, I love you," The burnet laughed, taking the drink and setting on the small table they owned before returning and taking PJ's so he could take off the rest of his stuff.

"It's a disaster out there." The older commented, closing the distance between the pair and wrapping his arms around his friend quickly. "I'm so cold and you're so warm. Did you just wake up?"

"Yeah, you weren't there when I got up." Dan frowned, the green-eyed boy smiling and kissing his lips before grabbing his coffee and escaping back into their currently shared bed.

"Sorry about that, I thought it'd be nice to surprise you with coffee."

"It is a nice surprise, thank you so much." Dan climbed in next to his friend, coffee in hand as he tried not to spill the contents. "Do you remember what you were talking about last night? Because I can't remember who fell asleep first and I was still kinda drunk," He admitted sheepishly.

"Don't worry, me too. And, uh, I was just talking about my sister."

Dan pressed his cold feet against PJ's ankles, the older boy jumping slightly at the contact. "Tell me about her." He said with a sip of his drink.

"Well her name is Alison, and she would have been twenty last month..."  Would have been.

"I'm so sorry."

"No, don't worry about it. She was amazing, really. My baby sister, wow, she was beautiful too. I was so scared that someone would come along and break her heart. I sound like a dad, I know, but we never really had a dad- as you know- so I had to be that for her, I guess." He took a drink. "She had this amazing ability to draw anything, seriously. She was so good. I think I still have a couple of her drawings of me at home. She could take one long look at anything and draw it in minutes."

"What happened, if you don't mind me asking."

"Oh no, not at all. She, um, killed herself. Jumped off a bridge." He spoke sadly, but his voice filled with so much love.

PJ didn't deserve this world, he was too good for all of this. All of the heartbreak and loss and disaster. He had a heart so big it turned against him, swallowing him whole.

"That's why I started drinking like I did- do. I guess. I have gotten better, though, Dan, I promise I have."

Dan nodded sadly, leaning up and planting a kiss on his cheek, taking his right hand in Daniel's left. "I know, and I'll be here when it stops completely." He squeezed his hand reassuringly.

Now, Daniel was sat in PJ's bed, hugging his stupid pillow to his chest, trying to inhale any of his smell he could conjure up. He cried silently into the pillow, then sat up quickly, the tears would wash away the smell. He couldn't stay in PJ's bed, if he fell asleep it would smell like Daniel instead and that just didn't feel right. He was careful not to move anything as he stood up, pacing around the room, his hands digging into his hair.

"Whoa, Bear, what happened? Are you okay?" PJ came running into the room, finding Dan crumpled up at the end of his bed, shaking profusely.

"N-No. I- I can't breathe, Peej," He sobbed, hiccups disregarding his sentence.

"Don't worry, I got you now." His arms were warm as they slid under Dan's frail body, pulling him closer to his chest and running a hand through his hair. He whispered soft things into his ear, voice laced with promise and kindness. "What happened?" He asked once the brunet had calmed down.

"I came out to my dad, he said I was a disgrace and I didn't deserve to have the last name Howell."

"No, darling. He's just an asshole, okay? Don't listen to him."

"He's gonna stop paying for my tuition. I won't make it to next semester."

"Don't worry, we'll both get jobs and save up, you're staying no matter what. And if that doesn't work then we can get a little apartment and work from there. Okay? I'm not leaving you behind."

"Okay," He hiccuped against, wrapping his arms around PJ's waist. "I don't deserve you."

"You deserve the world, Sunshine."
