Daniel woke up to a little boy jumping on his side, pudgy hands falling onto his face softly and rubbing his cheeks together. He slowly opened his eyes, pupils still dilating to the light that was now streaming into the basement room. Anthony smiled down at him, releasing his cheeks and climbing off the bed, landing on the soft carpet that decorated the rooms.

"Ant? What are you doing down here?"

"Mommy told me to get you up, she needs you to do some things."

"Oh," The boy sat up and stretched his arms over his head, back arching as a wave of tingles flew down his spine as he realigned it by standing on his wobbly feet. Haillie putting him to work meant that today was Monday and he did indeed have morning classes, but judging by the clock on his phone (10:46 am) he had missed them. He could care less if he passed or failed, he was going to get kicked out in the next three weeks anyway. A bill had been addressed to him with a total number he couldn't afford, and without PJ, he was homeless. Who knew when the brunet was going to wake up, he had slipped into a coma after knocking his head on one of the sharp rocks that were resting under the peaceful waters that flooded under the abandoned bridge.

Daniel watched as Ant ran from the room and climbed up the big stairs before disappearing into the house. The boy looked down at his exposed legs, forgotten pants littered the floor. They smelled like hospital antiseptic and something else he couldn't make out. Before he left the room he found a note taped on the door, Phil's messy handwriting scrawled across it.

Hey,

if you are reading this then I am probably at work. There are some clean clothes in the first drawer on the right (under the flower vase). I should be back home around the normal time, I didn't know if you had morning classes or not so I'm really sorry if you had an important test or something, but you looked so peaceful asleep and I didn't want to bother you.

If Haillie bothers you just ignore her and I'll deal with it later.

Phil

Daniel was surprised he had woken up in one piece, he wouldn't doubt it if Haillie was planning his murder yet. As Phil explained, there was a stack of clothes in the first dresser drawer (under the flower vase). It was a soft blue t-shirt and a pair of black jeans, he didn't know if Phil put them there for him or if he left them there for the Millionaire's Club. The fabric hung off his scrawny shoulders and hit his mid-thigh, he had to roll the cuffs of the jeans so they couldn't hang past his feet. He knew he was skinny to start with, but he felt like a skeleton now, he was sure his own clothes wouldn't fit him. Just on cue, his stomach growled demanding food.

In the living room, Haillie sat on the white couch, sipping something out of a purple mug that read housewife, house life across it in white print. She glared at him as Daniel made his way up the basement stairs, crossing into the kitchen.

"Has Ant eaten anything yet?" He asked, popping his head around the corner that separated the kitchen and the living room.

"Anthony- and no, he hasn't yet." She corrected, venom dripping from her serpent tongue like a two-headed snake.

Dan rolled his eyes once the evil witch of the west couldn't see and pulled out a small bowl and poured some cereal into it, dropping in the milk and sliding in a spoon before setting it down on the dining room table and making his way up the stairs to find the little boy.

"Ant?" Dan knocked on his door, peeping his head inside. The child sat on his bed, a soft teddy bear in his arms that Daniel hadn't known he had. "Who's this?" The brunet asked, the bed dipping as he sat down.

"Fuz."

"Fuz?"

"Yeah." His eyes were strained on the bear, small hands fluffing around the fuzzy fur.

"What's wrong?"

"Why were you kissing daddy?" He asked, looking up and meeting Dan's eyes.

Dan swallowed a lump in his throat before sucking in a shaky breath. "Well, sometimes people fall in love and sometimes those people fall out of love-"

"-like mommy and daddy?"

"Yeah."

"But they don't want to leave each other because they had a baby, you. So when they don't love each other, they go looking for someone else to love."

"Daddy loves you?"

"I don't know."

"Do you love daddy?"

"I don't know. I think so." The babysitter admitted. Did he love Phil? He hadn't ever really experienced love. The closest he got to love was with PJ, but he didn't feel that over-whelming excitement that people feel in movies and books. PJ just made him feel... safe. But with Phil, Dan was dying to talk to him all of the time, he loved his company and felt that Phil really understood what Dan was going through. PJ didn't know what it was like to come out, he hadn't needed to. His mother was unconditionally accepting so he didn't feel the great fear and anxiety that Dan felt everything he even thought about family.

Dan had a feeling Phil knew a little about that.

"I think so," Dan said again, looking down at the fuz bear, his own hands pawing at the material like a cat on a blanket. He repeated it in his head like a mantra until he was sure.

I think so.

I think so.

I know so.

I love Phil Lester.
