TW: It might get sad as there will be some talking about loosing loved ones. I know that's not an easy topic for some and I understand if you don't want to proceed. If you have questions, feel free to text me!
Avi was sitting comfortably in his favourite armchair. He had a newspaper in front of him, but his focus was more on the music which was playing in the background. "Such a wonderful production..." he said to himself.
A sudden ring of the doorbell pulled him out of his thoughts. "I'm coming" he called and slowly stood up. He grabbed his walking stick and made his way over to the front door. "Leila, it's so good to see you!" He greeted his goddaughter once he had opened the door.
"Hello, Uncle Avi" she greeted back and hugged him tightly. "How are you?"
The bearded man smile. "As fine as an eighty-one year old musician with arthrosis can be" he replied warmly, before he turned to the little girl who was hiding behind Leila. "Hello Kendra..." he said softly to her.
Instead of answering, two big, blue orbs flitted back and forth between his and Leila's face.
Avi chuckled as Leila smiled down at the small girl that was holding onto her legs for dear life.
"Say hello to uncle Avi, dear." She said softly while placing her hand on top of the child's brunette locks.
" 'lo" Kendra said almost inaudible while moving even further behind Leila.
Avi smiled at her before turning towards his godchild again: "Come in my love. Maybe we can see what Mr. Snuffles is up to." he said with a side glance towards Kendra.
His words took effect:
Kendra looked up towards Leila and whispered: "Who is Mr. Snuffles?"
Just as she had asked, a beautiful, grey, black and white tabby cat came slinking around a corner and looked up to Avi, mewling once.
"Hello, Mr. Snuffles" Avi said softly. "Look, we've got visitors."
"Awww... he's so cute" Kendra said, her eyes huge. "Can I pet him?"
Avi chuckled. "Of course you can. Just let him sniff your fingers first" Avi said as he watched the girl carefully approaching the cat.
Mr. Snuffles of course accepted her immediately, happy to have someone tending to him.
"Why don't we go into the living room and have some tea. I might have some ice cream hidden in the freezer..." Avi explained with a grin, but Kendra was too focused on the cat.
"She'll probably love some, later" Leila replied as they walked into the kitchen and quickly prepared two cups of tea. "So, Uncle Avi, anything new in your life?"
Avi, who had sat down at the kitchen table, watched his goddaughter preparing the tea and grabbing a few cookies from the jar, before answering:
"Oh, not so much, dear. Besides the new hearing aids, that is. They work beautifully and I'm finally able to sing again because I can hear my voice properly. The problem with playing guitar still exists, because of my old hands, but the neighbors son visits me every once in a while, brings his guitar and we jam for a bit. He's very kind."Leila smiled, she knew just how much Avi had missed singing. "I'm glad to hear that, Avi..." she replied while she filled two mugs with teabags and added hot water. "You seem to be happier, too..."
"I am. I mean, don't get me wrong, I would love to play instruments, compose and everything... but I have accepted that I'm old... I can't do everything..."
