Planning Christmas

It was a mild October night. The triad was enjoying the remaining warmth out on the patio. Avi had prepared some mulled wine out of their favourite white and his own blend of spices.

"This is soooooo good. So much better than tea" Scott pointed out.

Mitch giggled. "Yeah... of course. That's the alcohol talking."

Scott shook his head. "Nooooo."

Avi chuckled. "This is a treat, Love. Grams recipe for mulled wine. It's even better with a little bit of amaretto, but then I would need one cup to be wasted."

"Alexa? Add amaretto to my shopping list" Scott said jokingly.

"Very funny. I mean, I am not opposed to it, but I didn't make this seasonal treat just because. I need to talk to you about something." Avi explained.

Mitch smiled. "Let me guess... Christmas?"

"You got it..." Avi sighed. "I've been thinking about it a lot. About what I want and everything."

"Me too..." Scott said. "It really is a huge mess. Like... I really want to celebrate with all of you, but Christmas has always been about family. And especially now that I am an uncle, I definitely want to be with Landon. And my family, of course."

"I've been thinking about just inviting everyone to LA, but there are just too many people. And also, grandparents who cannot travel" Mitch explained.

"I get that. But I really want to go home, too. And Joshua is coming home as well..." Avi said with a small smile on his face. "So I really want to go home and be with my family, too." He sighed softly. "But I want to be with you, too. I mean it's our first Christmas..."

Scott smiled at his boyfriend. "The first of many" he said. "And even though I would love to spend it with you, we should all go home. Or... I don't know" he sighed softly. "I would also love to spend some time with your families, too."

"I mean... what we could do is travel. We are in the lucky situation that it's only two places, Arlington and Visalia. So we could do... I don't know, Christmas Eve and morning in Arlington and then travel back to California in the late afternoon, so we can be there by the morning of the 26th?" Mitch offered. "Even though this would make Christmas so stressful!"

"I get that" Avi replied. "Urgh, this is horrible."

"I would like to meet your brother, too" Scott explained. "Do you know how long he is staying? I definitely want to be home for Christmas Eve and Christmas Morning, but apart from that, I am kind of free. I mean we have quite some free time in January, so I will definitely go home for a week and spend time with Landon and the family."

"Joshua will stay until January basically, but he's travelling to be with old friends for New Years Eve" Avi explained.

"Good... good..." Mitch stopped momentarily to think. "Urgh, it's still a mess. But how about... we go and spend Christmas Eve with my family. Christmas Day with Scott's and then travel to Avi's? Stay there for a few days. If your family is okay with you being away for the actual Christmas days. And if you are okay with it, too?"

Avi smiled. "I think they will able to postpone Christmas for us... wait! Better idea! Or different idea, rather. I think I'll be able to go to Visalia for a few days during Hanukkah. Josh is coming during Hannukah, too, so maybe we could do Hannukah and some sort of advent slash early Christmas in Visalia and then be in Arlington for Christmas?"

Mitch furrowed his brows. "Does it work with our appearances and everything? I mean we decided against touring, but still..." he said.

"Esther confirmed my trip, so it works" he explained. "And I'm glad..."
