"You're getting really good already" Avi said as Mitch put down the guitar.
Mitch smiled. "Thank you, I just hope that you'll be able to play again, soon" he said and looked at the thick bandage around his boyfriend's thumb.
Avi shrugged his shoulders. "Me too, but I'm okay for now. Shall we go and look what Scotty is up to?"
Mitch nodded. "Yeah, why not. He seemed a little down when we had breakfast, maybe we can help him feel better someway?"
Avi sighed. "You noticed it, too?" He got up and held his hand out for his boyfriend to take. Together they went down the stairs and to his into the living room where Scott was lounging on the sofa.
"Hey Love" Avi said as he sat down next to him. "What are you up to?"
Scott just shrugged his shoulders. "I don't know. Nothing is fun anymore. I'm just bored..."
"Do you want to do something? We're here."
"I don't know. I don't want to do anything. It's all the same, each day. We get up, clean an almost spotless house, do something productive or play games. In between we eat. I hate it" Scott said.
Avi took his boyfriend's hand. "Babe" he said. "I get that you are frustrated, but we have to get through this together, somehow."
Scott took a deep breath. "I know. I just feel so awful right now."
"Scotty, we know..." Mitch said.
"No you don't." Scott pushed his boyfriends aside and jumped up. "I just want to do something! All I do is sit around here. Waiting for something to happen. And there is no way I can help."
Mitch eyed the blonde as he was pacing through the living room. "But you are doing things, Scott. You donated money and clothes and even your livestreams are helping" he said softly.
"But it is not enough. People are dying, Mitch" Scott said. "And I cannot do anything."
"Scott..." Mitch didn't know what to say and looked at Avi for help.
"Sit down, Scott. Please" Avi finally spoke up.
"No. Why can't you just leave me alone? You..." He scoffed and turned away to run up the stairs.
Both, Avi and Mitch jumped when Scott slammed a door.
"What is it with him?" Mitch asked. "He never acts this way... is it because we have been spending time together learning guitar?"
"I don't know, Mitch" Avi replied. "But I am wondering why he is acting this way? When we went into isolation, I was sure that we would run into conflicts. But honestly, I thought that it would be you who would get annoyed first and that Scott would be a little bit down every now and then but not that bad."
"I thought that I would be yelling at everyone after a week maximum" Mitch confessed. "But until now everything was running rather smoothly, mostly due to our communication skills. There has to be more that is weighing Scott down. Shall we go upstairs and check? I hate seeing him like this."
Avi thought about it and then took a deep breath. "Yeah. The worst thing that could happen would be him yelling at us to leave him alone." He got up and went upstairs followed by Mitch. He knocked at their bedroom door and opened it when Scott didn't reply. "May we come in?"
Scott was lying on their huge bed, his back facing the door.
Avi hesitated, so Mitch simply walked past him. He kicked off his slippers and laid down behind Scott, spooning him. When the blonde didn't react, he moved his arm to rest on his stomach.
From watching the scene, Avi was almost sure that Scott was asleep, so he was startled when the blonde spoke up. "I'm sorry, I don't know what I was thinking. You... you just wanted to be there and I ruined it with my bloody mood."
"Don't be sorry" Mitch said. "Your feelings are valid, even if you don't understand them."
"I'm just scared, Mitch. I hate being stuck here. When we first started this isolation thing, I thought it would be nice to have some time alone with you."
"Yeah, you conveyed this message through the massive amount of condoms you bought" Mitch tried to joke.
Scott chuckled. "Yes. And we made good use of them already" he returned. "But still, I did not expect things to get that worse. I was on twitter before you came down and saw the numbers, pictures. And it was so overwhelming..." He shrugged his shoulders. "I am scared."
Avi stepped up to the bed and laid down on Scott's other side, facing the blonde. "I get that, I am scared, too. But there is only one thing to do right now and that is to stay here in the safety of our own home and wait it out. It is hard knowing about the situation outside and not being able to do anything besides waiting and donating. But we'll have to get through it somehow."
Scott nodded. "Yeah..."
"Hmm... how about a little distraction?" Mitch asked.
Scott shrugged his shoulders. "I am not in the mood."
"I didn't mean sex, Scotty" Mitch said.
"What's on your mind, Mitchy?" Avi wanted to know.
"A spa day. We could turn on the hot tub, do facials, a nice hair mask for Avi, massages... whatever we can get up to. And.. no social media and no news allowed for the time being. And no one mentions the C-word, okay?" Mitch offered.
Scott smiled. "Deal." He snuggled up closer to Avi. "Thank you for being patient with me" he said and took Mitch's hand in his own, squeezing it slightly. "You're wonderful. Both of you."
