Soaking Wet

Scott and Mitch were lying on the sofa, cuddled up against one another. They each had a cup of tea in their hands and they had lit a small fire.

"Coming here was such a good idea..." Mitch said softly.

'Here' was the cabin in the woods which belonged to friends of Avi's parents and to which they always had access when no one else was visiting.

"Mmhm... it's been a while" Scott replied. "And I really needed to get away from LA... even though Avi is our nature boy, I came to love the quiet here..."

"Yeah... and the fact that we can be together without anything to distract us. No internet, no TV, just you, me and Avi.. when he's back from his walk" Mitch leaned up and pecked Scott's jaw.

Scott chuckled. "That will take some time, he took his guitar case."

"Hmm, maybe he'll treat us to a song or two tonight?" Mitch mused.

"He probably will" Mitch smiled slightly. "All you need to do is ask." He leaned up and placed his mug on the table. "I feel like taking a nap..."

Scott chuckled. "You napped on the drive here..."

"Mmhm, but I'm still tired..." Mitch snuggled up in his blanket.

"So am I. The past weeks have been exhausting." Scott, too, placed his mug on the table and pulled Mitch in. "I'll set an alarm so we can start on dinner, okay?"

"Mmhm..." Mitch hummed back, already drifting off.

"Oh shit."

Mitch woke up with a start when he felt Scott jerk up. "Scott? What the-"

"It's raining... !"

"So what" Mitch mumbled, ready to get back to sleep, but then he remembered. "Avi! Is he back?"

"Haven't heard him" Scott replied, sounding genuinely concerned. "Avi?" He called. "Avi, Love?"

Nothing.

"I'll check upstairs." Mitch almost jumped up. "Maybe he's in the bathroom." Without waiting for Scott's reaction, he ran up the stairs.

Scott got up as well, checked the kitchen and then opened the front door. A cold breeze came in from outside, causing him to shiver. "Avi?" He called out, but no one answered.

"He isn't upstairs" Mitch said as he joined his boyfriend at the door.

"His shoes and jacket aren't here either" Scott said softly.

"Oh man... it's pouring and our man is out there" Mitch leaned his head against Scott's shoulder. "I'm worried!"

"Me too... but he knows the woods inside out, he'll be safe" Scott said to reassure Mitch and himself.

"Doesn't help with the rain and the cold, though..." Mitch replied. "I'd rather have him here with us."

"You and me both" Scott sighed, looked over the little lake in front of the house and towards the woods, but there was no Avi. "He's probably waiting out somewhere safe and will come back when the rain has stopped."

"Mmhm... I hope so" Mitch said, shivering slightly, because of the cold.

"Come..." Scott closed the door and led Mitch into the living room. "There's no need for us to freeze."

"And now?" Mitch asked once they were, once again, sitting on the sofa.

"We wait. For Avi."
