Hey y'all, I'm feeling hella shitty and stressed about finals and adulting and could use a lot of encouragement right now. So instead of updating tomorrow like I told myself I would, I'm updating today! Gift to you from yours truly...imagine I put a heart emoji here. I'm on a computer so :(

Anywhale, here's chapter 39!

-----

It's a little while longer before we hear from Charlie again. Her voice comes through the phone and makes us all jump in surprise and anticipation. "Hey guys."

"Hey," Dean answers on behalf of all of us.

"Sending you all the flagged dig files now." As she described what she was doing on her end, her laptop screen in front of us had a window pop up, files loading into it one at a time.

"You're a genius, Charlie!" I say, watching the files flow in.

"I know. It's a problem." A few silent moments on Charlie's behalf rumble around in my head with deafening anticipation before she speaks again, but not to us. "Hey, Pete!" Pete, I remember that name from when we were hiding in her apartment and she was on the phone. "Guess we're both on deadline, huh?" She continues. She has a very suspicious sounding conversation with this Pete guy before we can hear her sigh and speak to us again. "Hey, guys, you still there?"

"Yeah," Dean answers hurriedly. "What the hell was that?"

"Oh, just my manager, the monster."

"Fuck," I mumble while Dean argues for her to leave.

"I can't. I have to act normal." She explains, adding, "I told him I was working. Let's just finish this." Several files begin loading on Charlie's laptop screen in front of us and her voice cuts through the ever-present silence hanging in the air. "Are you seeing this?"

"It looks like Dick stopped digging days ago." Sam answers. We're all leaning in closer to the small laptop screen to see exactly what the messages say.

"Why?" Charlie says, speaking aloud everyone's thoughts.

I throw out a wild, but highly educated guess, "Guess he found what he was looking for."

Dean nods in agreement and adds to Charlie's mission. "Can you check?"

"Way ahead of you." She answers. "Looking at travel reports, expenses...here we go. Something in his suitcase left Iran last week. Spent seventy-two hours in armored cars and private planes." We follow along with Charlie's search on her laptop, immediately seeing what she is. "Whatever it is, it's coming here for Dick tonight."

"So what the hell is it?" I question, looking around the van at my dad and uncle. I mean, come on, they're the smart ones here, excluding Charlie. She's not here, but she's definitely way smarter.

"I don't know. Whatever it is, he wants it bad, which means we got to grab it. End of story." Dean explains.

"Well, it's landing at a private airport near here..." She pauses, her tone becoming slightly more panicked as she continues, "crap, right about now." Dean checks his watch as Charlie continues to explain her findings. "A courier is set to pick it up."

"What's the exact landing time?" Dean asks.

"Forty-two minutes. Can you make it?"

"We can try." Sam pulls up the location on Charlie's laptop as Dean asks of Charlie to complete yet another mission. "Uh, all right, Charlie, one more favor and then get the hell out of there."

"What do you need?" Charlie asks, sounding ready for just about anything.

"More time."

"Then let's get you some." Through the phone and on the mirroring computer and laptop screens, we hear and watch Charlie typing out an email. "Travel department's emailing Dick. Suitcase still en route, but diverted by weather and will be thirty minutes late." The line once again goes silent before Charlie continues, "I'll finish mopping you guys off the drive and get the hell out of dodge."
